The Newcastle Takeover

Eddie spotted having a Real Ale and Pretzels with Badbod Cummings at Barnard Castle - they are setting up a Summit Talks on the Future of the World...attended by Boris, Diane Abbott, Eddie himself , Biden, Prince Harry Markle- Windsor, Phillip Schofield and his spit- roast Lovers, Sooty and Sweep( not Sue, she has Covid 20), great thinkers like Tyrone Mings and Sol Campbell, Alan Carr, Dolly Parton and any cnut from Scunthorpe with a bright idea ( there is at least one)
Summit to be held in Grimsby Fishdocks Canteen next Pancake Day !

I’m not sure about these opportunities. He turned down Celtic but premier league offers were thin and he got the Newcastle job because they went through a shortlist and were turned down by two different managers one of which (Emery) they had until they blurted too early. He had to get himself back on the map.

The moral aspect is a different debate. I can see both sides. Not sure I feel strongly enough either way to debate it too passionately.
turned down 2 premier league clubs and a foreign club

Of every professional in football I've seen interviewed he is by far the best spoken but not even he can dig himself out of that one.

Not sure why he bothered to provide an answer.

Exactly. He can't win here can he. Its going to be an ongoing saga whilst he or the Saudis are at the helm.

Constant probing, questions around it from xertain sections of the media.

The more successful he is there, the worse it will get.

Good.

Out of interest, do you feel he shouldn't have taken the job, given the Saudi thing?

Heaven forbid the government or football authorities might take responsibility over who should be allowed to run football clubs. Best leave it to their employees to do their own research and be the moral arbiters of society.

Doesn't take too much research in the Newcastle case though (as summed up by Squires in the Grauniad)Capture.PNG

Because Del, everyone, all of us, have a duty to do the right thing?

What's the right thing? Everyone in football to completely boycott Newcastle United? If them operating under those owners is not the right thing shouldn't someone have stepped in and stopped them?

Because Eddie needs to decide his own right and wrong. i.e. is it right for me to take employment from this organization, or is it wrong?

He clearly has made that judgement call. If it's not the right thing he shouldn't have been able to work for them, nobody should.

That argument doesn't make sense to me. If someone chooses to be a vegetarian, does that mean that no-one else is allowed to eat meat?
