'Slimey'

Does anyone remember having to go to a reserve game to get a coupon to guarantee entry to a big match in the early seventies,I think the big game was the one all draw with Brighton.

Chalky White, who remembers him,or was he called Chalky Marshall
Chalkie. His name was Gary Amer.
he was murdered in London around 5 years ago. Very sad, he’s buried at Bournemouth Crem’.
I believe Muscles is still around.
He entered Mr Bournemouth in the 70’s he came second to Jonny Fuller (who is also buried not for from Gary’s grave).
There were only 2 entries in the comp’. Lol.

Most away games I went to in the late seventies and eighties I would say the average away following was a few hundred. Most of the fans were young males,16 to 25,and there were not many females and a few older men and maybe some families. It has changed so much in the last twenty years or more,so many more women and families, which is good

Yes, that may have been when Bournemouth were in their end and they stood outside and pelted us with rocks until we were moved on, I think City were with them you could tell the difference as they were all 'posers' as the saying was then, some good times in those days but also some bad ones unfortunately, I think at the same game we had to all go to Lockleaze nick and wait for our arrested coach passengers.

I remember the game at Eastville which made it to MOTD. At the kick-off, an old acquaintance who hailed from Tolpuddle called Rod, with very distinctive shoulder-length red hair, was being frog-marched along the side of the pitch by the rozzers, having been "ejected" from the Tote End. Strange thing was, in those days the coppers would often just return the "over-enthused" supporters back to their own section, usually to a hero's welcome. I remember him telling me how, later that night when the game came on the TV, he had to jump up from his chair to block his Dad's view of the screen until the danger had passed!

Would this be Chalky who frequented the Oakmead youth club early-mid 80s?
