Non - Liz Truss

Can't see her not cracking under pressure.

Possibly OK for Home Politics..if she sorts the NHS and the Energy stuff.....but in terms of Making Great Britain Great Again....Johnson would have been a better bet long - term..fingers in pies etc.
and fingers up to foreign adversaries... :rocker:

She has to get rid of Shapps and Patel....Pronto Tonto!

Replacing one harmful process with another as a knee jerk response is not a decent long term solution.
Where did I say that there was 'free energy'?
Agree with you on nuclear, hydro is also a realistic option but batteries? Batteries are extremely harmful to produce, expensive and have a very limited operational life. There are definitely better options.

Read Kudos' reply. Just to say that the arguments you put up make no sense. Its the equivalent of being told you need to lose weight but thinking that there is no point switching from Kebabs to tuna salads as tuna salads still have calories so carry on eating kebabs.

You didnt state there was free energy, you were complaining that there is a cost in making solar panels. Something no one is denying.

As for your views on batteries... they are not "extremely harmful" and do not have a "limited operational life" Oh, and can be recycled.

But beside all that, its all nothing compared to the fossil fuel industries impact on the planet.

Unless you are of an extreme political position you'll see that the majority are up against it and it's somewhat unfair to blame a generation for buying Russian gas which was part of an attempt to reconcile with Russia after the cold war.

I'm not talking about directly taxing the young but borrowing more money, which means passing on greater national debt to future generations. The more I think about it the more it feels like an investment than a debt.

Peak power usage is around daylight hours. Whatever we are generating from renewables is far cheaper than fossil fuels making the average wholesale price lower and therefore your bills cheaper.

Obviously, nothing comes for free as Druss says but even battery technology is nothing compared to the supply chain for fossil fuels. Batteries that are too worn for EV use can be easily reused as home storage like the Tesla Powerwall (other manufacturers are available) adding up to a good generation's worth of energy storage before needing to be refurbished.

While the environmental debate is interesting my point was primarily about the economic benefits and energy independence and whether it's worth racking up national debt to achieve it.

Not sure if it’s extreme to think the young might be a little more “ up against it” than the elder generation .

Also not sure how you think more national debt is going to get paid other than in taxes . All seems a bit as I said kicking the can down the road . You want massive expenditure but don’t want to pay for it .

Russian oil is a side note . We’ve known there are serious environmental issues going on for what , at least 50 years and there has been the square route of F all done about it . That’s on all of us , not someone who hasn’t even been born yet .

“I also want to thank our outgoing leader, my friend, Boris Johnson. Boris, you got Brexit done. You crushed Jeremy Corbyn. You rolled out the vaccine, and you stood up to Vladimir Putin. You are admired from Kyiv to Carlisle.”

This ignores the fact that Truss and fellow MPs ousted Johnson just because he is not at all admired in the UK.

I feel sorry for Carlisle being tarred with that brush.

Brexit done but the minister for brexit opportunities still hasn't delivered any.

Has the ni protocol been hidden underneath the in tray?

You can still fool some of the 172000 all of the time

I thought the whole country had realised that it’s not pronounced ‘Keeyev’
but obviously not our prime minister, who used to be foreign secretary
:shake:

1. They are harmful, force feeding a kitten with ground up battery isn't going to end well for the cat. Not to mention the potential harm done to the planet by the mining of minerals used in their construction.
2. Their operational life may be longer than a Stanislas cameo appearance, but they do have a limited life compared with the petrol/diesel tank of a vehicle and they're a damn sight more costly. (That's all a battery is, a fuel tank)
3. Recycled yes. At a huge cost, but then again everything about electric vehicles involves huge costs and infrastructure that we will never have enough of.

Well, after an 8 week 2 horse race, 1 in 5 didn't vote for either. Not the landslide victory predicted for her.I reckon Penny Mourdant and Kemi Badenoch will be networking now, ready for next year's leadership election.
Lizzy T won't have done much more than slip further behind Labour in the polls. Boris tries hard to keep his nose and wick clean, so that he's available because all they want is someone to stop Labour.
Anyone on the left should be joining the Tory party now to be able to vote in next year's contest : )

Wait a minute! If 1 in 5 didn't vote, that means she's got the position with less than half the membership actually voting for her. It sounds like the same " democracy" our general elections are run on.

Apart from the fact she didn't support brexit

Petrol and diesel are never recycled are they?

Next you will tell me that petrol and diesel fumes outside schools are perfectly healthy for kids and we should stick to the internal combustion engine.

*Sigh*
