How long does GON have?

Do we know that though? Hence what do we do? Lose the next 3/4 and keep him? Eventually something has to give
We don’t anything. You can only go off the bits you do know. Since Eddie left we have appointed three caretakers from within and the bloke he recommended we watch as a potential successor. That would indicate to me we are not flush with ideas!!

I think we’ve left it too late now. If we do it now then the new manager is coming into a horrific set of fixtures. If we wait then I think we’ll be starting to get cut adrift and it will take a miracle to keep us up.
It all points to starting to plan for next season by getting a manager in who knows the Championship, but who may also give us a slim chance of scraping survival. The issue with that is we’ve just spent £90m, mostly on players who are not here for the Championship! Equally, that January outlay is likely to have some bearing on our ability to spend if we do go down, making it harder for the new manager to rebuild.
It’s an absolute disaster of a situation. And all because we didn’t take advantage of a golden opportunity to appoint a proper manager during the WC break.

You have to wonder at what point Bill Foley will summon to his office whoever it was that recommended GON's appointment, and ask them what the hell they were thinking of.

With every grim week that passes, this decision looks increasingly ridiculous. You don't have to be a seasoned expert in English football to see that. Just look at the way he presents himself in his post-match press meetings.

Foley has just invested somewhere in the region of £75 million and week by week we are seeing our hard-won place in the PL just slipping away.

And all poor old Gary can offer is a rueful shrug of the shoulders.

Gene pool pretty shallow though. Dyche taken - who is out there that could make a difference at this juncture?

So.... we scour the Foreign Lands now for a new manager....but make sure we don't include Scotland, Wales and Ireland.. .I mean Christ it's gotta sound right !
Best we get a shake on then....the March /April run in not far off....leaving only February - what remains of it's 28 days for this exotic maestro to get his and the 'Bournemouth Way' merged into a doable, viable Hybrid for which to get this squad mobilised !

Jeez !

There’s loads all over Europe and the Uk. Young coaches making their mark.

People on here used to say ‘who are these so called players that will join us from Europe… name them’ they went strangely quiet when we landed a load easily. Trust me, it’s the same with coaches you just have to know who you want and be decisive.

One of the traits of insecure below average people is they like to manage weak unchallenging people so they are not found out. Hence you get JT, Woody and GON appointments. The one time they appointed someone mildly average he called their ineptitude out publically so they shuffled him off and brought in the Gazmeister. It’s good to see people finally waking up to this though. They need the songs at the next game not Gaz.

When the Exotic Mystical Maestro gets here and implements his or her style and other doings...we still need the players to take responsibility for their application to the club cause and sort out some 'leaders' amongst themselves....I don't think the manager can do that..he can appoint a captain..but we've seen that doesn't always work out too well.

There is so much more that is down to the Players that we are missing due to the obsession with the continually 'failing' managers.
You can apply all that to all clubs tbh.

So you really believe that in pretty much every game we play the players decide to remove any attacking threat we have and camp in our own half for the rest of the match to try and win a point ?

Unfortunately GON time is up, I say unfortunately because nobody wants anyone to lose their job, but, there is a lot of time and money at stake here. There are a bunch of managers available currently, for those who say that we are not in that market, I disagree. Look at the money that the owners have splashed out in the last few weeks, the money being invested in the training facilities. Pochettino and Bielsa are both available, just to name 2. We obviously can afford them, by what we have spent in the transfer market. It has to be now though, we have 17 games left, there is still time to survive, especially with the new additions. Bill Foley has already stated that there is more money available in the summer transfer window. Don’t risk relegation! There’s no guarantee we’ll get back straight away!! Go on Mr. Foley, be brave, have a conversation with anyone of the top managers currently available now.

Decent leaders on the field would know how to control a game ..getting forward as much as possible to enable goals to be scored...knowing also that a crowd want entertaining... Ok it could end up 2-3 ...but goals are the object of the game...what a crowd want to see .and 0-1 is a worst outcome to accept for a fan.

If he stays much longer there may we'll be a choice between continuing the fight to stay up or start to rebuild for the start of a season in the championship.
I wonder how many of our new signings have a release clause. If the Ukrainian centre back is as much a coup as the board say he is (and he might well be) and we beat top clubs to get him was he planning on nights under the lights in Rotherham and Coventry as part of his career trajectory?

What makes you think Bill Foley didn't have the final say and O,Neil was his choice ?

The fact we've waited this long makes me think we never intend to sack him and we are happy to go down. But that makes no sense given that we've just spent £80m on players so I honestly have no idea what the plan is.
The longer we wait though the harder it will be to attract a decent manager and the deeper in the sh*t we will be
My opinion ; based on nothing more than speculation and an idea of how successful business owners work is that Foley knows exactly who the next manager is and they are coming in the summer whether we stay up or go down.

What we've got with GON is a guy who's only recently passed his test.
And we've given him the keys to our Ferrari.

That might suggest it's Bielsa but it's a hell of a risk to take. Potentially under GON we could lose the next 17 games and I imagine the atmosphere in the dressing room would be toxic by then. The better players aren't going to want to play for a club that's been happy to take them down to the Championship, I don't think that's going to be good for either their egos or their CVs. So, I'm still getting up in the mornings hoping GON has gone and a great new manager (who I've never heard of) has been appointed.

Like everyone else, I don't actually KNOW anything.

But in my experience, the owner of a business will pay a CEO a big salary in order to run the business, and will accept their recommendations on key issues.

I can't imagine that GON was Foley's considered choice. I assume that he gave the green light as a result of advice proffered by his senior management team.

You don't appoint a new manager immediately before a run like our late Feb - March because you wont gain the momentum you want from a change. And you don't appoint a new manager in April, you tend to just wait for the summer by that point.

Not that afcb do things the normal way, but that's the norm. So for O'Neil it's probably either now, or it's the summer.
