Kieffer Moore

To say he always scores for Wales is a bit of a stretch... and scoring a brace v Gibralter is a very different prospect to playing against Man City, Arsenal, Spurs etc.

I agree, we need more goals and Dom needs help, but I just don't think Kieffer is the one to do that... I still am struggling to see why Semenyo seems to have fallen out of favour... He was seemingly having a great start to the season and now nothing... Surely it's worth trying him and Dom up top together...

Yeah and the problem is, how motivated are most/any teams to restructure their style of player for a certain type of player?

Wales don't have a better option (afaik) than Moore up front, so it makes sense why their manager would implement a style of play that lends itself to Moores strengths.

You could argue our plan a is hardly successful at present, but I imagine AI is putting all effort into getting plan a effective... never mind plan b to accommodate what is, frankly, an extremely average striker (at best) at pl level.

And yes I highlighted the Gibraltar goals. Perhaps they have a few good players now, but in previous gens, Gibraltar have been about as strong as Bournemouth division 1 Sunday league side!

I think it’s worth getting a plan and sticking with it. We’ve only started the same forward line once this season. The down side of too much choice. No partnerships form. Everyone gets dropped after one bad game. Semenyo is a case in point… great cameo earned him a start at Liverpool where he was excellent. Next couple of games he was pants with the touch of an elephant and not seen since. See Brooks. See Kliuvert… I’d be surprised if Dango starts against Wolves so he will be the latest.

To me it’s Tavs and Brooks that should start and we should tell them come what may they are playing the next three. If not them let’s at least do the same with whoever starts and let them build up relationships with the same two full backs.

I absolutely get that and you have to judge each game on its merits. However, Croatia were World Cup semi finalists who beat Brazil on their way. Although Kieffer didn’t score, he caused them all sorts of problems.

He won't play Brooks and Tav together (on wings)... clearly favours inverted wingers, and those two are left footed.

The point of inverted wingers being that they come inside and get on the ball closer to goal and closer to the centre forward.

Somehow we play inverted wingers and they still manage to be about 3 miles away from Solanke at any given moment!

Sometimes yes...

But they can be told to stay wide to receive the ball... then cut inside. Different instructions/ways of deploying.

But yes, its not clicking, coming together at present. Players just look a bit isolated and we don't look particularly effective at all too often recently.

With our new style of play I thought one part of it was to use our wingers and get crosses into the box.

Keiffer Moore strengths are with his heading, but in all our games so far how many crosses have we made?

We have signed other strikers in the past who regularly scored for their clubs, but we never played to their strengths or gave them the service they needed.

Moore has made 4 sub appearances so far this season in the league, the longest being 27 minutes.

Apart from Dominic Solanke’s three goals, two other players have scored one goal each.

Moore might not be the answer, but with all the wingers we signed, surely we should be getting more crosses into the danger area.

We put a fair few crosses in against Everton… mainly from the left. Nobody attacked them.

Also thought we’d see more from the full backs under Iraola but we haven’t really.

From what I read about Everton before we played them, their weaknesses were the full-backs, especially on the right.

Their other weakness was defending against set pieces and crosses into the danger area.

From what you are saying we didn’t exploit their weakness with balls into the box.

Good find. Seems very likely he will be on the move in January. Which of course asks the question who we will be signing to make him surplus to requirements.
