Richard Hughes

I’m making a point. A bloke that signs 10 players a year knows who he is signing and sanctions all of them. People saying Foley overriding him is just protecting him. If Tyler had played every game and been player of the season the same people would be showering praise on Hughes for signing him. It’s pitiful.
I think most people on here think you are pitiful.
Your Hughes bashing has become boring to say the least,
You say a player is injury prone when the facts say he isn't.
every player is injury prone even a big strong Haaland.

It has been argued that coaches bare a certain responsibility to getting players injured due to their training methods. Players play under multiple coaches so may be at risk of picking up injuries here or there

If Hughes was given bad medical advice on a player then I would expect Hughes to, or recommend to fire the person responsible for the decision on the medical side of things. I would expect a Prime Minister to do the same if given bad advice from his cabinet minister.

Or if there are external experts it could mean a claim on their indemnity insurance if their advice turns out to be dodgy.

I don’t always agree with Neil. But, I would never describe him as pitiful.

He doesn’t hide behind a user name, we all know who he is. And I’m confident he would have a pint with any true AFCB fan and be graceful with it.

Pitiful is not ND.

I was just pleased he wasn’t slagging off my wife which is his normal cowardly tactics…

The only time I’ve seen her, she didn’t look happy. But, we were in Leeds (Yorkshire) at the time. So mitigating circumstances are always in play. ;)

What that has to do on here is a different story.

Not sure that Dibby bloke is much of an ally when it comes to leaving people's personal lives out of internet squabbles tbh. I can't really understand why anyone would do that personally but I suppose it takes all sorts.

Let's be honest, had Solanke not come right this season we would be in a world of trouble, and there were no indications last season that Solanke would start banging them in.

We were heavily linked to Nicolo Zaniolo, who has clearly proven to be a bullet dodged.

Then there was Gaetano Castrovelli who failed a medical, almost signing on the dotted line.

Ultimately, out of all the recruitment teams crocked list we signed Tyler Adams.

Also Traore, Outtara and Kluivert.

And if we hadn't learnt our lesson after that pile of deadwood we decide to sign Unal, who may or not be a good player, but is clearly returning from a serious injury, and unlikely to be fully match fit for at least 10 games.

There is not a chance Unal could complete 90 minutes at this stage.

The defenders have been solid (zabarnyi, Senesi, Kerkez) Kluivert has been solid, Sinisterra is alright.

But for the amount we've spent it's not money we'll spent.

Traore has been shipped out, 23 million fail
Outtara looks like a fish out of water, 20 million prospect.
Adam's has been crocked 20 million of God knows what.
Zaniolo would have been a disaster
Castrovelli another disaster
Kluivert, not bad.
Scott, will come right when he gets played in positions.

Who am I missing?

'Moves on loan'

I really don't think the recruitment process shows any signs of success, looks like we've actually dodged bullets. It could even have been worse had we signed Zaniolo and Castravelli.

Most teams at this level have one or two world class players, we dont have any.

Solanke is thriving because he's a big fish in a small pond. I doubt he would thrive at higher level opposition, but we probably have to sell him.

Jackson was the one player we could have got who would have filled Solankes shoes, yet we failed to sign the one injured player who actually came right, quickly.

Then there was the Ecaudorian young lad who Bill announced as an imminent signing......didn't happen.

Something isn't right with the communications when the current bunch are spending Bills money.

Lerma gone

Kelly likely off

There's another 20 million of Hughes influence that needs to be spent on a LB.

We must be sailing close to the wind with FFP, and then we will see who Hughes signs to replace Solanke next season.

Probably Callum Wilson or Adam LaFondre!!!

Will Hughes get replaced....probably?

Hughes to any team above us because he's great at what he does......doubt it.

Just on the point of comparing Richard Hughes role as director of football to being prime minister… does that make Neill Blake the House of Lords and Bill Foley the King?

Just struggling a bit considering Hughes isn’t at the very top of the hierarchy?

I think it makes both Blake and Foley the foreign owners of various media outlets.

It's all a bit weird...this Hughes hookum.

Maybe when is gone.....don't replace him and see what can achieved with the Manager overseeing the transfers this summer...saving money on his salary for a start !
More emphasis on nurturing and utilising youth players...introducing them to the 1st team squad one by one...get something from this Academy for our clubs benefit....especially if this new training ground facility is actually that primarily and not essentially just a Country Club for Corporate Cling - Ons ...that surely is better for the future than signing expensive and injured young players who are not proven PL standard anyway .
Any big money spent to go on more experienced and proven PL players, and on perhaps a few 'fit' gems from the top Championship clubs for sensible amounts.

Other extra curricular duties that Hughes ( he was only an ex- player) performed can be loaded onto whoever the Assistant Manager turns out to be long-term.

Sort this thing soonest !

100%

Don’t ask that. We should be challenging for a European spot under Neil’s guidance.
Who knows where we’d be Rob. We’ve signed 50m of midfielders that have hardly started, Traore ( *checks how he is getting on at Napoli….oh… ) Dango… and a host of other people that start intermittently and look mid. Had that money been spent on better players or players that were actually fit for are you telling me we’d be in a worse position?

It’s not inconceivable is it?

You ask who knows, but you seem 100% confident we’d be in a better position. You’re the one offering all the answers.

If we’d signed fit players for 50m the only concievable way we’d be worse off would be if they were poor recruits. You obviously have a lower opinion than me on our recruitment team Rob ;)
