I'm off

Watching the FA cup tonight, pouring down with rain and all the crowd rapped up. how happy i am to be down in Portugal this month. A lovely 21c sunny day spent on the golf course. then a couple of beers after, chatting with a couple of Irish guys, here for a week. yes we talked about horses.
Rapped up as in rapping?

I’m looking at Home Park and wondering when I was last there. I'm thinking about 20 years ago.

Anybody been to Dubrovnik in recent times ? I'd love to go as I am a bit of a nut for GOT. I'm not sure if there is enough there for 7 days or if I should look at a shorter break.

I went a few years back. You can do it in a day, walk the walls, go up the cable car and look at how they bombed the hell out of it, back down to the square and discuss the premier league over a beer with a waiter.

My son used to work with a Croatian lady, but she got married and went back to live over there.

My son and a couple of other friends met up with her last year and they went over to a couple of the Islands, which they were very impressed with.

This might be of interest.

Plenty to fill a few days. We stayed in the more relaxed Lapad area and walked or got a bus to the hectic old town.

Well worth spending a few days to hire a car and do a trip down to Kotor. Stunning.

We did a cruise into Kotor, a very scenic way to approach the place. That was some ago when it was still a little rough around the edges. We nearly did the walk up to the Fortress but bottled it, plus there was some random looking dodgy blokes just demanding money from anyone trying to get up the steps, no booth or anything official back then, just fleecing tourists.

Off to Thailand tomorrow for three weeks. Visiting my mate, who has a string of fanny bars in Pattaya. Staying in Naklua, just outside of the madness of the city. Wife and kids will be with me, talk about taking coals to Newcastle!

'You're going to learn a few things about life kids...'

Pre covid got chatting to a bloke at the gym, who was covered in Thai tattoos.

Turned out he was running some bars in Pattaya for people, for a number of years.

Some intersting stories, to say the least! Heavily handson/involved with quality control with the girls... obviously took his role extremely seriously:D

I've spent a few months in the land of smiles 20 odd years ago, but avoided Pattaya. That kind of stuff easy enough to find in most touristy destinations over there, but something about the idea of that place, meant it was never on the radar.

No doubt fine though.

Pattaya is a mad city but has a lot more to it than its reputation. There is a plethora of stereotypical 50's plus clientele looking for 'love' but also significant Russian, Chinese and Korean investment. Things are definitely improving and more family orientated, although still plenty of debauchery to be found.I spent a lot of time there in the early 2000's. Was in Samui when the tsunami happened in 2003, where we were unaffected, but some of my friends were in Phuket and witnessed some terrible things. They came to Samui to stay with us. Nine of us in a couple of rooms. They lost their money and passports!
I've met quite a few characters in pattaya including Jimmy White and Jason Mariner, the Chelsea headhunter fella from that BBC investigation years ago. He's loud but ok. I also met Chris 'Chubby'Henderson who was the co-owner in the 'Dog's ********************************' bar. He who was also caught up in the 2nd Chelsea Headhunter trial. He's dead now but I quite liked him.

Currently in Bangkok. If anyone tells you that it only rains for 5 minutes and then the sun comes out, dont believe them. It has pissed down for the last 24 hours! Supposed to be the dry season.

If she looks like Sharon but talks like Dave,

It's probably Dave.
