Not forgetting Parker who got the side promoted with a squad that had already seen many “Premier League” assets sold for very good transfer fees.

Just doesn’t add up does it. For every Ibe and Traore there have been two Semenyo’s, Taverniers, Solanke’s, Zabarnyis etc. he’s clearly not been perfect but his track record has been good, that much is blindingly obvious.
 
I guess it's harsh to say he hasn't been any good in charge of Recruitment...but that is not to say he is not overrated in that capacity.

Another angle is why should Liverpool be preferable or better than us...we are aspiring to be up there with them in the future.

It's just a semi - redundant backwater port these days full of drug smugglers!

This f√cking thing is all very convoluted and sinister if you ask me.
That f√cking club sees us as a soft touch...and we will get ripped off again by the b@stards plus Hughes.....probably already in the planning.

Yes, I was at most recent meeting. Was a bit like that weird scene from Smokey and the Bandit (not Burt Reynolds version, but bloke still had a mustache), in the motel, where they open the door and everyone is prancing around in snorkels/scubbing diving gear, with sh1t 80's pop/porn music blasting out... except it was just washed up middleaged/elderly men.

Viagra stock price rocketed the following Monday... just like certain parts of us did the 2 nights before.

Well we never expect to beat Man City and haven’t. It was the same relative differential on squad cost between us and a lot of other teams in the championship that year..

Either squad cost matters or it doesn’t. To some on here it does when we play Man City but not when we play Peterborough. Odd….

Man City is the only team we've never beaten. We have beaten all of the other big sides with massively expensive squads.

Managers count too. We had 'pragmatic' Parker sticking to his principles v PBoro. IE one up top, tapping it around at same tempo throughout in final third, with little room for creative freedom,beyond Billing potentially finding a pocket of space and producing a sublime finish every now and then

Do you think we'd have witnessed similar under AI.

Over 10 games v Boro at home, we'd likeky win 8 or 9 times under AI.

Similar ratio to City v us with Pep leading the charge.

Brave/bold managers who make things happen.
 
We could finish with our highest points total in the Premier League this season and that will be down to the manager and players that Hughes brought to our club.

That may be so, however I can't help but wonder what position we would be in now had we not squandered all that money on all of those useless signings!

Top? Top four? Challenging for a European place?
