Scott Parker

So we know who is coming in from his staff and who has left from the old staff.

Purches has left as assistant manager, but in Scott Parker’s team there is no mention of an assistant manager, someone within the club going to be promoted or new face?
Matt Wells was mentioned as his assistant

So do we also get Lady Penelope and the pink Rolls Royce? Seriously though I'm prepared to give the bloke a decent chance but TBH nothing he's done yet in management really fires me up. Depends what squad he's got to work with and if they are happy to play under his guidance and keep putting in the hard graft.

Looks like Fletch has managed to survive the cull for the time being. Maybe it's because nobody actually knows what he does!

He is part of the ‘brickwork’, be dodgy to replace him. :grinning:

The Big Man has his heart in our club, like us he is a fan, couldn’t wait to come back as a player, not many players you can say that about. We benefitted from his return.

Fletch could be the Club Ambassador, if he isn’t already amongst his duties.

That's an entirely different question and comment than the original incorrect comment of...

Jones joined over two weeks after Howe left.

It's not an entirely different question at all.

I'm obviously speculating but this is my theory. He got told they were going to bring a coach in and couldn't live with the interference.

I'm open to other theories but he was obviously gutted to leave, the board kept everything in place other than him so it doesn't appear like they wanted him gone. They brought a coach in within two weeks, not an assistant manager, a coach.

Jones was JT's choice as an assistant..... obviously if Eddie had stayed we wouldn't have needed anyone for that role.

So...if Parker has been ' unveiled as head coach'...who then is the 'manager '...is the manager Blake?
My guess (and it is just a guess) is that the most important person at AFCB after Max Demin is now Richard Hughes.
Another guess - Max felt that having all his eggs in one Eddie Howe shaped basket left him and the club a bit too vulnerable should anything have happened to Eddie and he wanted to spread the risk a bit.

So why did he leave?

We have heard different rumours since he left, unfortunately with rumours some contradict each other.

The only way we will know the true story is from the ’horses mouth’ and not sure that will be anytime soon.

Rightly or wrongly we are now moving in a different era and have to see what transpires.

On to Scott Parker.

I know we can’t ever read too much into an introduction video. But this morning I’m excited.

What this squad lacked from November 2019, was professional pride, player effort. An attempt to match their talent with hard work.

Parker clearly wants his sides to work hard, he wants effort. Something fans always want to see.

I do think then, he wants his players to be progressive, he mentions playing on the front foot, hopefully this means a nice passing game in possession.

Maybe it won’t be swashbuckling over lapping full backs, inverted wingers, box to box central midfielders and two strikers throwing everything forward and leaving us exposed defensively like many of us enjoyed. Equally many always complained about us defensively, so perhaps we can expect a more measured but equally easy on the eye footballing team.

Either way. Since Howe we’ve clearly lacked a vision and an identity and I think this move could be the first step to restoring that.
I won't be too disappointed if Parker starts his process by building the team from the back. As you say people have always moaned that we are too loose defensively. It doesn't mean we can't still play attacking football.
