Newcastle Away

Erick,
It’s lazy (and a tad offensive to me, I’m human, I just happened to be born where I was) to blame it on the American capitalist theme, especially as the club doesn’t keep any revenue on away ticket sales, don’t you think? After 13,000 supporters (all amazing btw) had the ability to purchase, those that for the last two years came to an away match, had the chance to buy and we sold 1,100 seats can we honestly say “let’s take on another 1,100 seats”? We have gone to general sale numerous times this year for away seats. Plenty of opportunities to get an away point before Newcastle. How can anyone justify that it is logical we’d sell the same amount of seats (1,100) to people who haven’t even bought 1 away ticket in 2 seasons? Maybe it’s the fact it’s the farthest away match? It’s hard to get to? Idk, but banking on general sale to out buy 13,000 die hard amazing away supporters is just not right. All I’m trying to do is explain the process as honestly, and openly as we can. Communication is important. I’ve shown the willingness to address tough topics, easy topics, etc. Let’s move on and get 3 points today!
Is it not the case that tickets for away games are offered by the host club on a "sale or return" basis?

It’s good to see that Jim keeps an eye on the fans websites/social media etc.

That way he and the club get feedback/moans, straight to the ‘horses mouth’, who can then answer and deal with the questions.

Is this a first from someone at or club coming on here like that?

Think Peter Phillips might have come on here at times, his brother Dick Dastardly did or possibly our old RnB site.

That's interesting, any idea which games they were?
Kev 1964 thinks Walsall and Corfe Red says either York or Walsall.

I was pretty certain that I saw us play in that kit in some of my earliest away games. Having looked through some old scrap books, i found that we wore it in my first 2 away games! A 1-2 defeat at Swindon in December 1974 which was Trevor Hartley's last game in charge, and a 2-1 win at Aldershot in January 1975, Tony Nelson's final game in caretaker charge.

I think it's high time we were given a daily update on how many tickets for away games sold ie 880 sold 1120 remain and that might change peoples habits

There are so many platforms out there let's make this happen

As much as I love stats and updates no club provides that information. Apart from the likes of a Fulham game, most games are achievable at 1 away point. Its up to supporters to change their own habits.

It’s up to supporters to change their own habits.
If the club announces the allocation number and how the blocks will be sold, then supporters can see what availability there is. So sure updates from the club aren’t necessarily required.

If the club announce that this may be reviewed at x point, then supporters can make a change to their habits. Without that information it’s pretty difficult to know that they need to get a hurry on or risk missing out.

Not sure if this is a revised way of doing it for Burnley or not as I have not read full wording in any great detail before, just checked the first on sale date.

The club has the ability to offer up to 2,283 tickets for sale for visiting supporters, which will go on sale from 10am on Tuesday 23rd January. Final allocation size will be subject to purchase activity during point drops.

Away fans are housed in the Dave Fishwick Stand. The blocks on sale are as follows:

  • Block 10
  • Block 18
  • Block 2
  • .........

This was the story for the Newcastle game.

So the club “has the ability to offer up to 2,283 tickets”

And “Final allocation size will be subject to purchase activity during point drops.”

Is a subtle addition.

If ever there was a game unlikely to be attended by someone with zero points, it’s Burnley away.

Probably another lazy opinion, but you've probably gauged there's a load 'lefties', almost anti West people on here ;)

Perhaps Russian cyber techs spreading misinformation, discontent ;)

Who can blame them. Swaying the tide on this forum could influence the outcome of their global domination strategy :)

My view from afar is I that the away support has been amazing so far this season, and they make a lot of noise.

We have been well supported and well represented.

Only turning up with 1100 away, against Newcastle with the Eddie Howe connection, under a new and exciting manager is short sighted to say the least, and a bit of a disservice to AI and the players, and hands a bit of an advantage to the home support before a ball has been kicked.

Tough to blame Jim, as the 'numbers man' but does show a slight level of naivety.

Would easily have sold out 2500 had the powers that be not been so trigger happy at the fear of losing 50,000 quid.

The same fear wasn't apparent when we lumped 22 million on Traore.

With the benefit of hindsight, and every action is an opportunity to learn, how about using social media and emails as a warning system, when presented with a similar future scenario.

Something along the lines of, ' Supporters we have 3 days left to make a decision in taking the next allocation of seats. Our current expectation is not to take any extra. If we have got this wrong and there is sufficient demand, please email.....with your intended requirements so we can make an informed decision'

It seems ro me the issue here was you caught a lot of people by surprise, and there clearly was some demand for more than 1100.

The other point, is comparing to previous seasons, has some value, but you have to take into account other factors, not least how well the team is playing. We would undoubtedly have taken more this year.

I don't know if 1600 or so was an option, but it seems pretty clear we would have sold that many as a minimum..

Yeah does across a bit naive mate. Either that or insight into nickel and diming certain things, when being extremely brazen in comparison with money flowing in other domains at club.

Marcondes is likely on 20-30k a week... sat there doing nothing, in terms of 1st team contribution for months. Randolph similar. Kilkenny (perhaps bit less). Thats likely circa 100k a week on absolutely nothing of use... although apparently Marcondes and Randolph are good characters/laughs... not sure thats worth 50k plus a week though.

50k Small fry here in scheme of things. And even if we didnt sell allocation, would have very likely sold over 2k imo.

But hey, not my money is it.
