Gary O'Neil

Isn't there a club called Whitehawk there too? Possibly what Brian was referring to?
Haha..no that was co-incidental...it is indeed a name given to gulls by Merchant and Royal Navy sailors...they follow the ships for any scraps they can get...and moreso in the days when raw untreated sewage was discharged from ships all round the world...hence the prefix 'shite' .

I think Whitehawk is a suburb of Brighton so just a coincidence as you say.

I think this happened at their ground.

When was the last time a team sat in 11th in January were touted for European football?

Is this one of those shock jocks baiting people to call a talkshow?
Take your point. Sadly, though, you can finish in 7th place to get European football given the europa conference competition - thus not too big a stretch if sitting in 11th

Wolves are level on points with Newcastle and only 3 points off a European place.

Agree, joined a day or so before the start of a new season, fan disillusionment and following a clear out of senior players to comply with ffp. Very impressive.

Exactly. Look how they've underperformed past few years, under 'sexy' managers on huge wages.

Sold some of their players, brought in a very unfashionable choice of manager, on likely a fraction of what previous ones were paid.

And somehow he's producing, by realistic standards, probably as good a start as many (most?) managers would.

Thinking back, that's similsr to us.we had a bottom 3 squad last season, took over on back of hammerings and Parkers odd outbursts that likely effected confidence. Somehow produced a series of excellent results and performances. Would Aby manager have done better ie keep us, as he did? Some would have probably, most woukd have taken us down imo. His first job as main man too... incredible tbh, with weak squad on paper, up against ckubs with highly paid, big stature managers with vastly higher paid players at their disposal.

Had that awful run, but demonstrated he has something about him to change tge tide, when it looked likely we were sailing head first to relegation.

Yes, spent money in Jan... but only Dango played for a while... and early prognosis was tgat glimpses of other signings, was that... well, we wasted a lot of money. So hardly like we bought survival.

Threw away some leads (Leeds...; spurs etc) but 1st half displays were excellent.

Everything we've (I've?) Seen about him indicates he's a smart bloke, fast learner and he'll learn abd eradicate those short comings... 1st jobs, right in high pressure deep ends too.

Yes id take AI over him, but im becoming more and more confident, that against all odds/geberal feeling of fans, hes going to be a dark horse, unfashionable manager that against negative perceptions of many afcb/wolves fans, hes actuallygoing to become a superb manager.

I hope he does, as he will have learnt it the hard way, against tge world. Hes not 'sexy', popular, riding on coat tails/stature of playing career. Nobody wanted him at Wolves, no one (most?) really wanted him here (destined to lead us right back to the 2nd tier when we elected to keep him during that dismal post workd Cup form...).

Regardless of style, I 100% hope he does, as he will have earnt it the very hard way compared to many other managers.

Pretty confident we will finish above Wolves this season.

I think Garys main aim will be to finish above AFCB.

The tactical analysis after a jammy 1-0 victory against 10 men was in bad taste.

I don't care where we finish this year, as long as it's outside the relegation zone, and above Wolves.
