Newcastle United v AFC Bournemouth

I thought it was a really exciting game, and so did the commentators, but the VAR decision was as usual ridiculous and the PGMOL should be charged with bringing the game into disrepute. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that the match thread has yet again descended into personal abuse and sniping by the usual suspects but it's depressing for the rest of us. A draw was disappointing but, the VAR farce aside, not particularly unfair.

Kluivert definitely makes a real difference when he plays and we look much more threatening with him playing behind Solanke. Cook had another excellent game and, hopefully, like Solanke is finally fulfilling his promise. Definitely need another RB as Smith is struggling now. I didn't think Neto had a bad game at all but he doesn't inspire confidence and if Travers isn't up to it then we need to spend of few bob and get someone better. Overall though a much better team performance than last week and a decent result.

Yeah, agree with all of this. As you say, we should be debating a really good performance and the high and lows, but once again it is mostly about the officiating.

As to the sniping and other self-congratulatory stuff, well, it's no surprise to me that so many articulate and interesting posters have moved on.

Yes and they know it. But you can't change the rules now. Imagine a few lawsuits if there is not a consistency of application of the laws of the game (and VARs mandate) across every game of the season.
I understand the particular point you are making, but to suggest there is any 'consistency' in the application or otherwise of the laws of the game in the PL is wildly optimistic.

My only wish for any AFCB team is that I see 11 blokes giving their all and playing for each other. That's it. I saw that yesterday and at most games this season.

At Newcastle both teams met this criteria and I thought it was a terrific game. I have yet to see a game where no one makes a mistake. Maybe Brazil in 1970?

The TLDR of the stats.

xG suggests a 2-2 draw was fair

3 big chances for Solanke is joint highest for a player this season – level with Solanke Aston Villa at home. Solanke’s xG of 1.94 is the highest this season, beating his 1.31 vs Aston VIlla.

Only the third time just 3 subs were used (after Brentford Away and Newcastle Home)

23 fouls conceded, a new season record

Lowest pass completion rate of the season

+5 points on corresponding games

Yeah it's getting beyond a joke now....all the playground fighting by the usual suspects take over a thread...........you come on here to look at a post and have to wade through all the dross of the kiddies having a go at each other

Farce. Var is a farce but so are rules re offside ahd handball. Once again we seem to find a new way to test the rules when decisions go against us
Deliberately ambiguous to allow refs/VAR to make calls that they want to? Some might think that...

Typical of you Neil. Deflecting instead of acknowledging your contribution to the problem. I'll send you a DM later.
You think people have left the forum because of me? Don’t bother DM’ing me then.

There’s so many of them… have the courage of your convictions and name the first ten publically. It’s not like they will read it…

Back to your point about people disappearing, hopefully they're just on holiday (half term has just happened) or just taking a bit of a break for some reason. It's nice that you notice them not being here. Hopefully, they'll be back soon.
