Non - Rishi Sunak

It would be interesting to know how you presumably believe that Labour will make things any better. Their track record is appalling.

The worrying things is I was talking to a young girl on a train recently and raised the subject of the Post Office scandal and other political topics regarding the U.K. She replied that she new nothing of any of the topic I mentioned. With this in mind, how can she vote in a general election if she has no idea and knows nothing what the hell is going on? These people are dangerous.
Democracy is too dangerous to allow people to vote for anything they dont understand.

52% voted for Brexit without understanding the risk that the UK had no plan to achieve the supposed benefits.

What period does this track record cover ?

How does this appalling rate on the Truss scale of damaging the UK economy ?

Surely it is reasonable point. How can someone who has no knowledge whatsoever of the UK's internal political affairs vote in a general election if they do not know what the hell is going on?
It’s a fantastic idea. Let’s go back to the days when only the elite were allowed to vote. Working class people with concerns about their neighbourhood and their welfare should be denied the vote until they’ve passed a degree in economics.

The Mail and Express readers had better switch to the Telegraph and GB news viewers should switch off now surely.

I am not saying that she has no right to vote. What I am stating is if any individual has no knowledge of what is going on politically in this country how can they vote? How would they know which party to vote for if they have no knowledge of current affairs or what party stands for what?

I think she was trying to get you to put the tupperware lid back on your pickled eggs and move to a different carriage.

They may not be concerned about the post office scandal, HS2, Trident or MP’s expenses. They may be concerned about feeding their kids, seeing a doctor, trusting the police and a whole host of other social issues. They will vote for the party that sorts out those problems.

Michael Gove eh?

As long as they're old enough to fight and die for their country, then thats all that matters.

Unlikely. It was more to do with the fact that she was thick from the neck upwards and of whom had no knowledge whatsoever of what is going in the U.K today politically. I would have been surprised if she actually knew the day of the week. She was probably one of thousands of young people who are walking around in a complete trance.

Wake up.

This is nothing new.

It's called human nature.

A certain percentage of the population have no idea what is going on in the 'real' world, but still vote.
Can't imagine that skews the result overall; unless you're implying it helps Labour?

As for the question how Labour will make things better?

First you can explain to me just how the Tories will suddenly start making things better for the majority of the population, rather than the few.

Its no surprise the Tories have resorted to trying to deflect attention to the opposition, they have zero credibility when it comes to policy.

Brown's time as chancellor was marked by major reform of Britain's monetary and fiscal policy architecture, transferring interest rate setting powers to the Bank of England, by a wide extension of the powers of the Treasury to cover much domestic policy and by transferring responsibility for banking supervision to the Financial Services Authority.
Brown presided over the longest period of sustained economic growth in British history

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • The 2007–2008 financial crisis developed gradually. Home prices began to fall in early 2006.
  • In early 2007, subprime lenders began to file for bankruptcy.
  • In June 2007, two big hedge funds failed, weighed down by investments in subprime loans.
  • In August 2007, losses from subprime loan investments caused a panic that froze the global lending system.
  • In September 2008 Lehman Brothers collapsed in the biggest U.S. bankruptcy ever.
  • When the bubble burst, financial institutions were left holding trillions of dollars worth of near-worthless investments in subprime mortgages.

Yep...they all have had crap times in power!

Yes I will be as I know what is going on. Many young people couldn't tell you the day of the week let alone what is going on politically in this country.
Really? What an extraordinarily stupid generalisation.

Separately, it may be helpful for you to know that political voting success is not predicated on Luton going on a losing run.

Perhaps you could explain as to why Labour very rarely stay in power for more than one term (with the exception on the Tony Blair tenure).
