They had little choice to be fair. They didnt want Tories, obviously and they had no Labour candidate to vote for so their hands were somewhat tied.

As you were posting...I was listening to folk from Rochdale phoning in their responses on Radio to what has happened....they have been totally conned and polarised by Galloway with his belligerent and Anti - Semitic nonsense...a hatred of Jews....or as he terms it Zionists whom he won't talk to or debate with any common sense approach...just ranting in his superbly honed staccato / machine - gun style.
He is an opportunist....hopefully a flash in the pan for the Now...not effective for the main Election.
He is not for the people of Palestine...he is for narcissist George...that alone in glorious isolation..and in taking advantage of Britain's broken politics !

The world is so messed up these days but you're right, some of the stuff he's come out with recently has a ring of truth to it. I don't keep tabs on the guy but apparently he's been ostracised by many in the far right white nationalist movements.

Galloway is a gobshite chancer who always invites himself to the party wherever there is a group of angry Muslims in some town the the UK. So some of the population of Rochdale have decided he is the best person to represent them in Parliament...its a good job that Gaza is their only concern because that is the only topic Galloway will be talking about over the coming months. He will do nothing to improve housing, social care, schools, transport and business within Rochdale, he's only interested in himself.

There have been some horrific pictures out of Gaza over the last couple of months, but there is not much Sunak, Starmer or any other UK politician can do about it. The only country who can have real influence and reign in Israel is America. Galloway's inflammatory speeches and ridiculous posturing are going to change nothing and be of zero help to the people of Rochdale.

Oh I know about the difference ..I've studied politics and World Affairs for a long long time Stan..continually reading mainly non- fiction but also some fiction to get the general flavour on issues of this area of the Middle -East.....and with no bias ingested !
You will be aware of course of people in the past of such conviction regarding hatred of Jews.... Madam Klara Hitlers little lad !

....I was essentially reflecting on Galloway's opportunism, sudden insurgency into current political issues in this Nation. .... and aligning that with his misguided take on the Israel / Gaza situation.

It's absolutely hilarious to read the anger of Tory voters when someone they don't like wins. Galloway stood on a Gaza platform but also promised to improve health services in the town, crack down on grooming gangs, get investment for the local football team , open up the boarded shops on the high street. When results like this happen, the big parties have to take notice of the people which is not something any of them are particularly good at. Keep the anger and insults coming, Folks, I'm having a great morning.

Crack down on Grooming Gangs ?....Christ he has taken on something there..in that area !
If he does..which I doubt while he is busily obsessed only with Anti - Semitism...maybe he can spread the crack-down to say Rotherham ..Oldham ..Burnley...Halifax and Huddersfield etcetera...
