AFC Bournemouth v Sheffield United

Did I imagine it in the first half when their player was treated on the pitch and not only did he not wait the required 30 seconds before he came back on... he didn't even go off. Was there something different that I missed?
Yep, after the challenge that Kerkez got booked for which didn't look a foul, let a lone a yellow from where I was. Player was treated and just got back on with it, ref missed it completely.

Just back. Great to catch up with @borisatha before the game as promised earlier on the thread. He had a Singapore sling and I had a Pisco sour and a lovely reminisce about the old days.

Frustrating game that. There for the taking but 32 shots producing 2 goals… too many poor finishers on the pitch. We seem to have spent a lot of money on a lot of shot shy players…

Hoping Iraola, who is clearly very loyal to players, loses that for a little while with Tavs and Neto. The latter cost us the game and for his wages it’s not good enough.

Pluses… it was good to see Adams in the squad and running around well. I thought Cook was excellent again and Zab grows and grows. Semenyo strong again. The two subs scoring will give them confidence. Sinisterra also has to start as he changed the match.

Minuses… the finishing particularly Christie (who should be fined when he shoots) and Tavs. Billing then caught the bug.

We need to find a different way in home games as our record is not as good as our performances.

I don’t disagree. Christie has only ever scored one PL goal and Cook none.

Both can't hit a cows ass with a banjo, despite their positive attributes.

Most teams at this level have goalscoring centre mids.

Between the two of them they probably have about 2 goals in 350 appearnces, and one of them has none.

It's not good enough at the elite level.
The simple fact is neither of them know how to kick a ball correctly. They all believe the side of the foot is the answer because they have been kicking a ball that way since 4 years of age. Hit and hope is their thinking. There are exceptions of course. You will find them in the top three teams in the Prem.

Arsenal had 22 shots and scored 6 vs Sheffield United.
We had 32 shots and scored 2.

We must have the worst conversion rate in the league. Maybe even in English Football? (anybody want to check?)
I love the high-octane pressing and fearless shooting.
But the finishing has been awful of late.

(I'll also say I hope Travers starts vs Luton - Neto was very poor today)

The manager clearly encourages them to hit long shots, which are obvious less likely to go in. They can lead to goals though as one of Dango's did, albeit disallowed for ridiculous reasons.

Olise has 6 for Palace off the top of my head.

You are comparing a thus far 28 game season and extrapolating it across our two players 350 odd games and 2 goals to make a point, backed up by inaccurate facts.
He's a winger mate...

I'm comparing our CMs with over 120 other players over the course of 28 games.

Although they are spot on about this...

"Fanbase full of geography teachers who’d all be following rugby union if Bournemouth hadnt been bankrolled into the Premier League.

Probably all sat at home now waiting for their ugly wives to come home and peg them when they get back from their latest Greenpeace meeting."

The warnings were there before this game ..I for one flagged up stuff !

OK..what's done is done..or not...but I tell you what ...we are lucky we had that good spell before Xmas... or we would be well in the Sh*t.

I don't think this bodes well for next season....I really think some of our players are being found out...and maybe other staff...soh' rry..but that's how it's looking.
One positive point was today's scorers...need to keep them in there as first choice..if it means playing both Unal and Solanke together.so be it ..goals are so important while our defence is so fragile !
Disagree in that these young players, with better personal experience and ann increased awareness of the requirements of Al, I think we’ll be an improved outfit. A couple of areas to improve - goalkeeper, central midfield (someone who can score a goal or two), and a new forward as I anticipate Solanke will be sold if a suitable offer comes in for him and fair play financial tightens. I think things are looking up, not down. Today was a disappointment but while we weren’t great or poor, Neto was a major accomplice in goals conceded.

Brilliant , big club Sheffield Utd mentality shining through the comments, love it. Funnily enough my old geography teacher was a Bournemouth fan but that was back in the 70's.

Went to Asda at the train station after the game. There was indeed a lot of 10 packs of Stella getting purchased for the long train journey home.

Had a laugh with some of them. Decent fans overall.
