Luton Town v AFC Bournemouth

This would have been a tough game if played earlier in the season, but with their extensive injury list we shouldn’t have too many problems picking up the three points.

They have really struggled since their two defensive midfielders, Lokonga and Nkamba have been unavailable. This has been compounded by losing virtually all of their first choice defence and their talismanic forward Adebayo.

It’s a real shame for them because I truly believe that they had a very good chance of surviving against the odds before their injury crisis, now I’d be surprised if they even finished above Burnley.

I know it’s a popular cliche to say that this will be a ‘tough game’ but it really shouldn’t be. What they will be fielding will be a mid table standard championship minus Ross Barkley who is their one fit outfield player who belongs at this level. But even if he has the game of his life the likelihood is that he will be let down by the shambles of a defensive unit that plays behind him.

They looked alright last night for the most part.

We must be talking about a different Luton, I’m talking about the one who have two points from their last nine games and have won five games all season. Hope that helps

I do get what you’re saying, they are down there for a reason. But every time I watch them against any standard opposition it’s always a proper battle. They tend to drift off it in the end but they deserve respect IMHO, guard against complacency.

Same old waz or whatever you call yourself. Name games they've been hammered, rarely lost by more than 1. They scored 3 against us in first half. Hope that helps

Acknowledging the input of AFCBade to this, "The Reds are staying up," must surely feature heavily in the song book on Saturday afternoon.

The real question is do we give them a three goal start?
'The Red are moving up'. Also hope they stay up, but they seem to have lost momentum. Obviously hope we win 0-5, but if they beat us, I will try to focus on 3 points helping them. So much more likeable than Florist.

I think he has a fair point, its all very well putting up a good fight - quite a few relegation battlers do that, but at the end of the day it doesn't matter if you lose 1-0 or 5-0 you have to put points on the board and they are not doing that. Without Florist and Everton points deductions the bottom 3 would be done and dusted by now.
I am fully expecting a tough game on saturday and we could drop points but I think we should win.

It will be almost* the same 11 that started against us just 3 weeks ago and were 3 nil up at half time, however.

(with Fred OnYerDinner in for Ogbene)

If Onyedinma does play, it'll be only his third start this season, having played 16 minutes v. Spurs and 75 minutes v. Arsenal. In those two games he's registered no goals or assists (though note the opposition), and picked up one yellow card.

Got to feel positive about this game; no room to feel soppy about Luton until after full time.

Spot on !
If we're serious about possibly aiming for Europe or at least breaking some club records this season, we really need to show a ruthless streak tomorrow.
This is a game we can rightfully expect to win and we need to make sure that we do. No excuses, no mercy !

A reversal of the 3-2 the last time we were there would be nice.

It's an interesting one as this is surely one of the games they have targeted as a must-win if they want to survive. Therefore, they should come out all guns blazing with a pretty vociferous crowd behind them.

It does mean from their perspective the psychology of the game is a bit different. Instead of a "give it all you've got but if you lose then that's to be expected" attitude, their players will know they need something from the match and so nerves might creep in.

If we can put them under some pressure or sneak an early goal then they might start to panic a bit, whereupon they could make more mistakes. I don't expect their heads to drop as their spirit has been strong all season but there is a little more pressure on them for this game than there has been for others.

On the other side of things, if they get ahead their belief could really rocket.

Before kick-off at Saturday's Premier League fixture with AFC Bournemouth, a period of silence will take place to pay tribute to four former Town players we were saddened to hear had recently passed away.
