Did we offend him in a past life or something? Every heckin time he is involved in one of our matches he genuinely doesn't give a toss about anything apart from giving the opposition everything he can. Even if it's obviously wrong. The list of horrendous decisions he's given against us is lengthy and goes back to the Championship.

How he could sit in the VAR room and wave through that pen is... extraordinary. As for the injury time one. Any thoughts on what he would have done with the same incident at the other end of the pitch? Exactly.

I wonder if he's a billy big bollox who doesn't believe that, having moved across the world, he should have to be involved with tinpot teams like us?

Started to become my most disliked official. Possibly ever. Due to the same things happening every time.

Typical bloody Aussie ;)

Absolutely insane level of officiating today. The contact on Christie finished inside the box, and started on the line. Just like the Newcastle penalty against us.

With current handball laws, it’s never a penalty for them in a billion years. Horrendous call. To not step in and check the referees decision is a disgrace.

Even the dive given against Christie, maybe it wasn’t a foul, but I thought there was contact. To give a dive for that is very strange to me.

Barely gave them a booking all game either.

Why would he book any of their players? Sarcastically clapping the ref or deliberately bringing down a player through on goal is fine isn't it?

My consolation is that the PL bias is now naked and so blatant that all can see.

The problem is that we're helpless to do anything about it and always will be hence leaving the ground also numb and speechless, made even worse by watching it back now. You can have it staring you in the face like today but absolutely nothing will happen to change things. It's a deep down bias amongst these officials and that will never change.

For a draw against Manchester United in the mid table of the Premier League to be one of the angriest or lowest feelings in decades following the club, is very odd. But here we are.

The spin doctoring had already started from the final whistle. The worse by comparison Maguire handball (not a handball still) has already been forgotten and the weird blonde automaton on Sky was trying to make a case for the decisions being correct.

It'll go through a couple more rounds of scrutiny on MOTD and the lime and be forgotten.

I think as a club we need to be a bit more clever in nullifying the offield advantage the "gold ticket" teams have. I wonder if the Golden Knights faced discrimination like there is in the Premier League.

I think you meant helpless but I agree with you.

VAR was designed to clear up ‘clear and obvious’ mistakes from the on-field officials…

That incident in the dying moments resulted in the ref giving a penalty because in his opinion, in that fleeting moment, he saw a foul on the line or inside the box… enough of a foul to award us a penalty.

Now the very fact the law states it could have been a penalty, due to the foul continuing in to the box, means IMO that no ‘clear and obvious’ mistake has been made… It could have been a pen just as much as it couldn’t…!!!! So how can VAR ‘make’ a decision that has ‘overturned’ the on-field one??? They didn’t even suggest he has made a mistake… They’ve told him he has!!

I don’t get it…?!?!?

Exactly this. Totally undermined the decision of the on field official and his team. By start contrast look at how VAR was used in the European competitions last week, namely the champions League. Our VAR teams seem to have built themselves pedestals to sit on and act like Gods of the game. It's total big team bias bullsh1t.

Spot on

The worse decision of all was their first goal; in the build up, Dom was taken clean out in a blatant foul that couldn't be missed, yet VAR didn't want to know.
AI was complaining about Christie getting booked for diving and their player not for a clearer dive, I was thinking more about the 2 or 3 players we had booked for dissent (I'm glad Neto had a go at him) when their players were doing it all match and nothing.
We had a handball penalty shout that wasn't looked at, there's was given before Smith could even process what just happened.
I said before the game Man Utd would get a penalty and we would be playing against 12, with VAR it is now playing against 13.
The only good thing about it is the whole world can see it. Even Man Utd fans are saying what a cheat the ref was, yet the pundits on that joke of a show MOTD won't talk about it because they don't want us in the league.

Agree but seriously, how?

Fair question.

I've no idea what's allowed in the rules but we could push out a video of the Maguire handball and the Smith one back to back followed by the Mainoo or Amad dives with Christie's, maybe the Schar penalty and the Christie one. If they want to be really cheeky they could wrap it as a guide to the rules and have the rules written on screen or narrated in each case.

Maybe keep dossier on referees and push back against ones that have shown clear bias. Perhaps have the referee shown his previous errors or a hall of shame in referees dressing room.

Maybe we work with the other 14 as a block to drive some reform.

That's just a bunch of brain farts but you'd think there'd be similar resentment to the Golden Knights which would extend to the entire league. As I understand, it's expected for new sides to whipping boys for a while as a right of passage. I wonder if they got discriminated against and if they did anything to manage it.

Also clear handball pen for us in second half that should be given but not shown on replays.

Gillett is a ****

Too many in the media piggyback on the prem juggernaut and won’t rock the boat.

People moan about tokenism with some female analysts but keown shows they aren’t worse than many blokes.
