Andoni Iraola

He’s said his kids are settled in a school in one interview?
Added to my post above re Easter.

From Echo 7 days ago.

Asked if Easter was a big event in his household, Iraola joked to the Daily Echo: “I’m alone!

“I'm alone because family have used the holiday at school to go back (to Spain).

“But I have a lot of work to do now.

His family aren’t here. He is renting a house in Whitecliff and they come from time to time. I think he said it was too key a stage in his kids education to move them. Didn’t he spend Xmas on his own too?
Why don’t you share their address too? ;-)

I really hope that he is not on his own over here.
That would be really tough for him.
If his family is settled here it should also make a longer contract term more appealing to him than if he is stuck over here feeling homesick.

Personally, I am still expecting a contract extension of at least one further season to be announced in the summer. Iraola and the club have had a full season to get to know one another and the playing side is on an upwards trajectory. It's a different situation to the one he faced last summer and even then he was prepared to commit to two seasons.
Bill will want a guarantee of some stability on the managerial side and I suspect that if AI's family is feeling settled here, he'd be happy to oblige in the summer.

Looks like I misunderstood him on an interview and they are here then! I could have sworn he said the family weren’t with him. He lives next door to someone I know hence I know where he lives. Apologies if incorrect!

Agree.

Problem with letting players get away with 'tantrams'/bad attitude is it's likely to be insidious.

Other players will clock it (even on subconscious level) and may stsrt to display funny attitudes too, and before you know it you have a big problem on your hands. Maybe what happened with how Howe dealt with (or didn't...) the fraser issue and others notable drop in performance.

Seen that kind of thing play out before several times in workplace when manager too nice/lenient around that kind of thing.

Not saying need to be draconian or rule with iron fist, but there has to be boundaries and consequences as people will start acting up. Human nature.
Wow...what a 'bang on it' post....!

I'm thinking also, that there are shades of Harry Redknapp at his best at Boscombe, in Iraola's character traits.

Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere but stumbled across this the other evening. This lad does a lot of analysis and a couple of months ago he did another video about our playing style, which I believe WAS posted here.

In this one he calls Andoni the most underrated manager in the Premier League and also takes a dig at all of those who criticised the club for sacking GO

If you're tired of highly paid pundits never giving us any credit, you might enjoy watching this lad give us credit for free ( and some intelligent analysis too ! ).

Asked if he intends to go on Monday Night Football to explain in detail how he won this game, as O'Neil chose to do following the reserve fixture, Iraola declined, citing his English. But there was nothing wrong with his managerial skills, that is for sure.

As I said at the time Gon did it.....Iraola has way too much class.

Class. It’s why one is a PE teacher and one a headmaster.

What excuse did you expect him to give?.....he used the language barrier....no drama....classy.

You know O'Neil was booked on there before the game right? I just don't understand the needless character assassination of the guy. He was perfectly gracious in defeat last night when he probably felt anything but and many other managers would have whinged. Sure he'll say the odd thing that reveals that he's pissed off with AFCB for sacking him but so what? Of course he is.

You think he'd have gone on there to explain how he lost?....come on Derek.
