AFC Bournemouth v Peterborough United

Absolutely pitiful performance.
Was prepared to give SP a chance ,despite the warning from Fulham fans and our great (should I say goodish) start to the season. I can now see why.

We were rarely convincing. A lot of those early wins could have gone the other way.

Concerns me that after our equaliser, we never really looked like we would get another. Also concerned that Lowe was only given 6 minutes even though he'd scored 3 in the last 3.

Not sure what has happened to our finishing from earlier in the season, players like Solanke who were getting goals and shots on target seem to have lost that touch.

Tonight in the first half there were a number of attempts on goal, but only one on target and all the others going wide or well over the bar.

But in one moment of the first half Marriott found himself with only Travers to beat and it was 0-1.

Second half more of the same from our team, but one moment of good individual play by Christie and it was 1-1.

Looking at the stats, AFCB 22 shots and 2 on target.

Peterborough United had 6 shots with 2 on target.

Our side go back into second place again on goal difference, but if our players had been more critical in front of goal, this game could have been put to bed by half-time.

It was similar v Hull. 3 or 4 good chances first half all missed and mostly not even forcing the keeper to work, which set the tone and put the crowd on edge.

Just had a quick check back to all our home games and the match stats.

Last night we had 22 shots at goal but only 2 on target.

That is the most shots on goal we have had all season at home.

Just picked out one game against Birmingham City last month where we had 9 shots on goal and 5 on target, with 3 ending up in the net.

So if those 22 attempts last night had been as accurate as against Birmingham City we could have had a very different result.

Fine margins.

Man of the match poll, 6 to choose from -https://bournemouth.vitalfootball.co.uk/afcb-v-peterborough-highlights-reaction/

Thinking back to last night there was one moment in the first half where there was a really good move involving Cantwell, who set up Solanke right in front of goal, earlier in the season that would have ended up in the net, but sadly last night he put it wide.
