It was unfortunate that it was so damp and chilly pre game as there is plenty of space around the outside of the stadium and many more would have stayed and eaten/drank outside had the weather been better as it was back in 2015.
Half time concourse is bad at most grounds - but this one is quite poor for a newer ground. I wonder if it is any better in the home areas - anyone know?
Thanks for asking. The away concourse (which is expandable, depending on visitor ticket allocation) is indeed relatively cramped… Because it's the Away concourse.
The three Home concourses, however, are entirely different, and huge. If you had turned right out of the away end and proceeded to West Stand Lower, you would have found yourselves in a warm, spacious concourse with numerous bars, hot food and TV screens. The West and East concourses stay open for 90 minutes post-match, with the North open for 3 hours.
Post-match, away fans are very welcome in any of these concourses (with few exceptions like Palace and Leeds).
And then there is Dick's Bar, above the club superstore. Carpeted, airport lounge kind of place, but with a good craic, its own Harveys bar and real ales aplenty.
The truth is that very few away fans are aware that the Amex has this relaxed, open concourse policy. Not surprising, because it's the only stadium in the country that does this.
A good game, and a fair result. Happy New Year!
