Barnsley v AFC Bournemouth

Wet ball, hit hard enough. Would have been hard to stop. Sam thwacked it gud.

I would not be happy for our goalie to wear a very short sleeved jersey in those conditions. Get cold and wet, lose a bit of concentration and focus, performance level goes down just 10% and those shots might go in. Well done Sam, Rico and Phil Bill for getting some real power in their shots.

I thought our starting eleven played very well. They matched Barnsley's pressing game and took the game to them with our clinical attacks.
So fortunate that they didn't go on the end of some of their crosses across the face of our goal.
Great that Surridge and Solanke scored - nobody calls him So-lanky now do they?
All kick started by a great Billing goal in the beginning.
I hadn't realised that that was Diego's first for the club.
Pleased also that some of the youngsters were able to come on too.
Anyway, well done everyone.

Also, well done to the ref. Keith Stroud, seen him before at Dean Court and thought he was pretty good tonight.
Unlike the ref (Gavin Ward) for the PNE game, he didn't afford us any protection from their cynical fouls.

It seems a recurring theme over the years.Bad performance one week only to be told "we have to learn from this game" "We will put in a much better performance next match"
Problem being is they don't step up.
How often over the past years have we said "do your talking on the pitch not in the(usually Bournemouth Echo") press/media.
We've lost twice this season. On both occasions we've bounced back with an outstanding performance. Bouncing back was a feature of Eddie's teams too, it's tough to do and it was something he was very proud of.

They do step up and they've just done it again.

Good referee tonight, let play to go on when it looked like an advantage, but when that proved to not be the case, called it back for a free kick, this applied to both teams.

Are you suggesting we should keep on losing just to bounce back.

Yup! Thought he was a v good ref. Also Saw some niggling trips and pushes by the Barnsley players to break up our play, warned players and later booked them.

Re-watched the highlights this morning. Hadn't appreciated the run by Solanke to open up the space for Smith to cut inside and pass to Billing. Completely took one of their three central defenders out of the game, meaning no one could step forward on to Smith or close down the space for Billing.

Can’t remember if last night was the third or fourth time Simon Francis has been on Sky for our games, but think we have won them all with him in their studio.
