.and others should fight for the place...fair enough demote him to No2 if he lost confidence after a few tonkings or was deemed to be vastly overwhelmed by the task and was making many and regular mistakes.
 
or he is bringing in an existing #2 to play as the cup keeper but is good enough to step in if needed (injury)

Exactly. I like Travers, but this is how it works.

If the manager can secure someone better, within budget, the player ups his game further, or loses out. Obviously manager has to consider variables, such upsetting the squad, but no one is owed a place. They have to earn it and keep improving along with clubs aspirations. Most players have a 'level' and managers careers hinge on their results, which will involve unpopular decisions sometimes.

That's how football works, someone gets injured or transfer falls through, another player gets his chance and takes it. Probably true of Anthony and Zemura too. That's called good management using your back ups effectively.
 
Seem to remember this lads name on our radar for some years, for one reason or another. Boruc link perhaps.

He wouldn't come cheap and there are probably more pressing matters, much as you don't say no to good players
 
We're all assuming that we keep Travs.

It is always possible that someone like Chelsea (with their new money) could come in and pay silly money a 7th reserve keeper.
