Hoping To Get First League Win This Year

Our team have been playing good football recently but have not been able to turn chances into goals to get more points on the board. AFCB have not won a league game since Boxing Day at Dean Court when we beat Fulham. Our last game against title contenders Manchester City finished in defeat, but again with better finishing our side could have got something out of the game.

Our next three games are against teams in the bottom three, one away and two at home. First up is a trip up to Lancashire to Turf Moor the home of Burnley since 1883. The Cherries will be hoping to pick up a win against a club that have struggled since they were promoted as Champions in the Championship last season. The game is on Sunday at 1 pm and is being shown live on Sky.

Last October Vincent Company and his Burnley team visited Dean Court, the Cherries won 2-1. After the weekend games the table had Sheffield United in 20th place, Burnley 19th and Luton Town 18th, all three teams occupying the bottom three relegation places. The Cherries were in 17th place one point ahead of the Hatters. Now after 26 games (Luton and AFCB 25 games), the bottom three hasn’t changed. AFCB have moved up to 14th place with a gap of eight points between them and Luton Town.

Since that game in October, Burnley lost the next three league games, making that a run of six defeats in a row, their worst run this season. Since their defeat at Dean Court, in their home games, they have won one game, that was against relegation rivals Sheffield United and it was also their highest score this season, 5-0. They have drawn two, 1-1 with Luton Town and 2-2 against Fulham. They lost 0-2 against Crystal Palace, 1-2 West Ham, 0-2 in their games against the two teams from Merseyside, Everton and Liverpool. Their most recent game ended in their heaviest defeat this season, 0-5 against Arsenal.

Away from home they beat Fulham. Drawn with Brighton. Lost six games, they were Arsenal, Wolves, Aston Villa, Manchester City, Liverpool and most recently Crystal Palace.

Our last visit to Turf Moor was in February of our relegation season under Eddie Howe, who had previously managed the Lancashire side. Burnley won the game 3-0, with their goals coming in the second half from Matej Vidra, Jay Rodriguez from the penalty spot and Dwight McNeil.

In our away league games against Burnley, AFCB have W 1, Drawn 6, Lost 7.
All competitions, AFCB have W 8, Drawn 11, Lost 16.

Burnley Team News
Josh Brownhill is suspended. On the injury front they have been missing Aaron Ramsey, Lyle Foster, Nathan Redmond, Luca Koleosho and Jordan Beyer.

Burnley Player To Watch
They have two joint leading scorers with 4 goals, Zeki Amdouni and Lyle Foster. David Fofana who they signed on loan from Chelsea in January, has started three games and twice as a sub, in the game at home against Fulham he scored 2 goals after coming on in the 63rd minute. In midfield they have Sander Berge the former Sheffield United player.

AFCB Team News
Dominic Solanke missed the FA Cup game due to a knee injury. His replacement our new striker Enes Unal was substituted at half-time due to a problem with his collarbone.

AFCB Player To Watch
Hopefully Solanke will be fit, we missed him on Tuesday night. If not and if Enes Unal is unavailable, Antoine Semenyo or Justin Kluivert will probably play up front. Ryan Christie and Lewis Cook will be important in our midfield.

The Referee
David Coote is in charge of this game. He has taken two of our games this season, the home game against Chelsea and the away game at Everton.

That's where he played mainly for Bristol City and I think I remember him saying that Number 9 is still his favourite position.

I'm not so sure... I'm not singling him out from Tuesday night, but he looked a bit lost as to how to carry out the press up top... Arguing with Billing as to who was going to press the keeper.

I mentioned on another thread that the least upheaval would be to move Kluivert up top, who knows the press and has an eye for goal and to maybe bring Scott in as the No.10...?

Leave Semenyo where he has performed best, coming in from the wing...

After Scott's one half performance as the 10 at Fulham I would say definitely no.
Perhaps we can recall Kieffer?

In light of that I'd go for Ouattara because he'll press everything and run about causing chaos. Might be enough disruption for the team to profit from.

I think he played as the main striker for his national team the other week.

The most obvious would be Semenyo and Kluivert with one nominally leading the line and the other in the more free to press role. Either way round. Just as long as one stays central to provide some focal point.

However as Borisatha says, it had occurred to me that maybe Dango could do a job. God knows he’s already used to being chucked in all over the place already, and there’s no scout in the world who’d brief Burnley to expect it. But his energy, physicality and aerial ability might help. Even if I’d advise ducking for cover if he gets into any shooting position!
 
If Dom and Unal are unavailable then the only option is Semenyo. He may have been poor playing there on Tuesday but at least he has the physical attributes to do it. Can’t see Kluivert having the physical presence to be able to lead the line as a focal point in the PL.
