This is part of his team of the week analysis. The last line is just typical! They uncovered a gem apparently. Nothing to do with the 4 seasons for us in the PL

Nathan Ake (Manchester City): I saw this lad play for Chelsea as an 18-year-old protege. He looked capable of having a career in the game but had a lot of work to do if he intended to be a top-class defender, an international or even play for the best team in Europe and that was no doubt why Chelsea let him go. The fact the Dutchman has now achieved all of the above tells you just how hard he has worked. The way he took two players out of the game and then delivered the perfect pass for Erling Haaland to finish against Liverpool was quite brilliant. This is yet another indication of the quality of Manchester City's recruitment process. City didn't pay a fortune for him but still managed to uncover a gem.

A very odd paragraph indeed. Goes out of his way to excuse Chelsea selling him (probably mistakenly if we're honest) and airbrush AFCB out of Ake's career.

They are usually rubbish tbh

As for city “uncovering a gem”, not exactly hidden was he. Also he made his Chelsea debut at 17 so crooks was a year late in noticing him at 18.

Just poor Journalism without little or any research.

This is what should have preceded it.

After 3 seasons at AFC Bournemouth, Nathan Ake moved to Manchester City for £41 million.

I mean he actually had a season with us too on loan before he joined you and certainly impressed then .
Exactly, shown himself capable in prem with 2 teams before we signed him

Watford seemed to like him as a lb despite a lack of pace and Man City tend to play him wide too.
