match thread

Not sure if this is still the valid document as it's 2011 but its the one on the FIFA site so I'll take it as current. It states he would be banned for our next friendly:

Section 38 - http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/affederation/administration/50/02/75/discoinhalte.pdf

"Match suspensions in relation to an expulsion pronounced on a player outside of a competition (separate match[es]) or not served during the 25 FIRST TITLE. SUBSTANTIVE LAW
CHAPTER I. GENERAL PART
competition for which they were intended (elimination or the last match in the
competition) are carried over as follows

.....

g) friendly matches: carried over to the representative team’s next friendly
match."

Would a straight red in a friendly mean a 3 game friendly ban ? If it does then Max can only play against Valencia and will be lacking match practice and probably won't start the season in that case.

...not sure why the ref just didn't ask both managers to take them off?

Probably an American Ref I'd guess, not necessarily aware of what is a gentlemans agreement over here for that situation in friendlies.

The lineups suggest 4-4-2 but with so many players out injured and not risked, it was probably more a case of who is fit and where can you slot in in an emergency.

This was tweeted last night which looked closer to 433, but yeah make of it what you will<img src="https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Cn2WSImUsAAYqqV.jpg:large" width="512" height="384" border="0" />

don't think anyone has shared this yet. Highlights here

Own goal is comedy gold. Doesn't get boring - I've watched it about 10 times now, really is something else

I use to have a recurring nightmare back in my childhood of Kevin Charlton doing that same thing leading up to a mid week game against Reading down the BBE , can't remember the year but we lost 0-1 in reality but no fault of maybe the smallest keeper in the league !!

Thanking you for posting that. Sadly all we seem to get on COWS are items those who pay for Cherry Player can watch.

So Gradel is not suspended for any length of time in a completely different competition - thanks for the clarification guys

Still begs the question - does he miss the next 3 friendly matches ?
