Millwall v AFC Bournemouth

The referee is Dean Whitestone.

He has been in charge of two of our previous games this season, home against West Brom and away at Stoke City.

Billing suspended. What would you do? The options far as I can see:

Keeping everything else as is, replace Billing with Marcondes like for like.

Move Christie inside and have Lowe on the right. Or there's Marcondes, Rogers or others for the right.

Keep Christie right, have Lowe through the middle with Dom in a more classic 4-4-2.

Something else?

Millwall away isn't the ideal place I'd have in mind to go and experiment too much. I guess Lowe on the right worked well against Bristol City (though Millwall are a better side).

Now To Get Back On Track

After the disappointing 3-2 away defeat against Derby County on Sunday, the Cherries need to come back and show the same reaction they showed against Swansea City after the previous home defeat against Preston in their next away game. That game is a visit to the Den, the home of the ‘Lions’, Millwall on Wednesday at 7.45 pm, the game is being shown on the Sky red button.

Gary Rowett is in his third season at Millwall as their manager and he has added to his squad this season with the permanent signing of a former player of ours defender Scott Malone from Derby County, goalkeeper George Long from Hull City and midfielder George Saville from Middlesbrough. On loan are three players, Dan Ballard from Arsenal, striker and another former AFCB player Benik Afobe from Stoke city and midfielder Sheyi Ojo from Liverpool.

Rowett’s side had an indifferent start to the season in their first nine games, winning one, drawing six and losing two. In their last nine games their form has picked up and they have won five, drawn two and lost two, in their last away game at Middlesbrough they drew 1-1.

In their home games they have beaten Blackpool 2-1, Bristol City 1-0, Stoke City 2-1 and Reading 1-0. They have drawn 1-1 with Blackburn Rovers, Coventry City and Derby County. Lost 1-2 against Fulham and 0-1 to Luton Town. Away they have won 2, drawn 5 and lost 2.

AFCB’s last visit to the Den will be remembered as it was the 7th win in the unbeaten run which came to an end in our next home game against Brentford. The Cherries won 1-4 with our goals coming from Billing, Danjuma and Brooks in the first half and in the second half J Wallace made it 1-3 before Solanke added goal number 4 for AFCB.

In AFCB’s visit to Millwall, AFCB have W 11, D, 2, L 23.
All competitions, AFCB have W 28, D 13, L 38.

Millwall Team News
No new injury news from the Den, so they should have a strong squad to pick from.

Millwall Player To Watch
Jed Wallace, leading scorer/assists, with 5 on both counts. Been an important player for the Lions this season.

AFCB Team News
Lloyd Kelly missed the game at Derby through injury and looks likely to miss the Millwall game. Ben Pearson wasn’t in the squad again at Derby, along with Robbie Brady, it seems both had minor knocks and could be available for Wednesday. Zeno Ibsen-Rossi is also injured. Others missing we know about. We will be without the services of Philip Billing, who picked up his fifth yellow card at Derby and is suspended.

AFCB Player To Watch
This will be another hard game, Millwall haven’t conceded more than two goals in a home game and the only team to do this were Fulham. Again we need Dominic Solanke and Jaidon Anthony to take their chances like they did at Derby. Also Ryan Christie in midfield will be important.

...Chilly evening at The Den what is not to like?

Looking forward to this one as I haven't done an away game for a while!

..be interesting as we are weaker defensively with Kelly out especially, we do need to out score them!...I think 3-2 to us maybe??

That will be an achievement, as Fulham so far are the highest scorers there with 2 goals.

Millwall themselves highest at home is also 2 goals, which they have done twice.

Last season at home after 9 games, Millwall had only conceded more than 1 goal once and that was 3 goals against Huddersfield Town.

Later in the season AFCB were the highest scorers there with 4.

I love the way Anthony has taken his goals in the last two matches and wonder if he could be tried in the ' Billing' role with Lowe playing wide left? I think Lowe is an intelligent player and the combination of Davies - Lowe - Anthony could be quite exciting. Anthony has been in the right place and has the technique and confidence to be a real goal threat.

Not sure if this would be permanent but I would love to see us give it a try.

Wouldn’t panic if we drew at millwall. Awkward team to play against.

Would like Pearson to start to strengthen us defensively. The challenge who to replace billing - prefer lowe to play off Dom to give us more presence in attack.

We have to get a draw at least.....if we lose it will be 3 losses in 4 games. Not a good script pre Xmas....tragic and comedic, let's at least get to Panto season around January, intact, before we start that nonsense.
Now then, what would that mean, losing at the Den ?....it would mean a message sent out that beating us is not so difficult.

That's what occurred this time last season!

really need Pearson back for this one
they'll have seen how Derby flooded the midfield so we need some more strength in there, and a lot more energy
could get messy tonight
