Neto

We do, and it could be a fcking good one if we made a few more prudent investments.

An upgrade here, an upgrade there.

Not the scattergun approach of spending Bills money.

Defensively we have made some shrewd investments. Zabarnyi, Kerkez, Senesi.

It's the throw enough **************** and one should stick approach in all the other parts of the team where it doesn't look so good.

Traore, if we get our money back for him, there is an actual God, and I may start going to church.

Scott, haven't seen enough of him at this stage, but a huge outlay, hasn't really made the step between Champuonship and PL, but is young and has development to come.

Outtara, 20 million of the most unpredictable football one could imagine.

Let's say that again..... 20 million.

He hasn't looked like a 20 million player at any stage, just like Traore.

Unal should come good, Adam's possibly.

20 million on Sinisterra who can't displace Tav.

Don't forget we tried to sign Castrovilli and Zaniero.

For fxks sake, Liverpool can have Hughes, he hasn't pulled up any trees in the last 2 years at all.

SDD will be wanking himself furiously that he's won a debate with Neil, but let's be honest Hughes hasn't signed anyone outstanding in the forward places for 3 years.

Then there was that Ecuadorian guy...Foley announced the signing, it never happened.

Foley pays for the players, he doesn't negotiate the deals.

That's why Hughes is off.....not because he was brilliant at what he did.
100%. Well said. Also the view of people I drink with and socialise with around games. Away from a small echo chamber of 20 or so people on here there is a general relief he is off and we might stop blowing Bills cash.

I'm gonna stick my neck out and swim against the tide. As a paid up member of the goalkeepers union, I think Neto is getting a lot of stick on here that he doesn't deserve. All goalkeepers make mistakes. When they do it's usually a goal. Everyone knows this, right? The mistakes Neto made yesterday were minor, but they both lead to goals. Cue calls for his head. Neto, imo, is in the top ten goalkeepers in the PL. He saves us more than he lets us down. (No pun intended). If our defence was a bit better he wouldn't be so overworked and would be more consistent. Be careful what you wish for.

Garbo,

Solanke jumped for it and was millimeters away from it.

Neto was right behind him.

He would not have seen that ball for the majority of its trajectory.

Especially so when Solanke didn't make contact with it.

Not Solankes fault, but it's extremely harsh to think Neto could have caught the bloody ball.

Watch it again.
Sorry disagree with this.

Watch it again and you'll see there is no opposition players anywhere near it. If Neto commanded his box like a goalie should then he should be shouting at Solanke to leave it and he catches it comfortably.

He made it awkward for himself.

He's a good shot stopper but there is so much more to the game these days.

Do you think it's OK to wish for a keeper to catch a ball now and again?... or if that's not possible to push it away from danger rather than straight back out into the middle of the penalty area?

Thats two home games in a row he has pushed a shot straight into the path of an incoming player. I think he should have done better with the shot for the first. The second was classic Neto defending a corner, Luton must be planning their aerial bombardment as we speak. I think he has been a good defensive organiser and reads the game well, clearly makes good stops but too many mistakes for me.

I don’t doubt that this is your experience, but if what you’re suggesting is true, why are clubs like Liverpool being linked with him? Seems a bit strange, is he failing upwards then?

The first shot was hit hard and low. Do you know how hard it is to deal with this type of shot? Neto did well. He was unfortunate. How can he catch the second? He couldn't see it until the last moment.

How hard should it be for a professional keeper?.......i'm pretty sure most keepers push the ball away from danger rather than continually push the ball back into the middle of the penalty area.

Looking for a goalkeeper that doesn't makes mistakes is like looking for a central/defensive midfielder who regularly finds the net. Total unicorn !!

Yeah, he made a slight error of judgement in the millisecond he had to react to a hard, low, fizzing shot. Sack him !!

Rather ask where were his defenders to clear the ball?

Come on, he does it regularly. Not to mention the goals that he frequently costs is due to his inability to command his six yard box. And the fact he lets in soft goals on a semi regular basis. When even K Temple is questioning your position in the team you know your time is up. He’s got too many weaknesses.

I’m with you on the defensive midfielder bit, anyone expecting a defensive midfielder to regularly chip in with goals is in fantasy land (sorry Dragon.)

Nobody looking for a keeper that doesn’t make mistakes though, just one who doesn’t have as many weaknesses as Neto does. He’s costing us regularly at this point.

You don't get to play for Fiorentina, Juventus, Valencia or Bacelona if you're a bit crap. We should be a bit more grateful, imo.

He was back up goal keeper for every one of those clubs though was he not? Don’t think he’s ever been trusted to be a number one before. I can only judge him on what I see, and unfortunately he is a bit of a liability.

72 apps. for Fiorentina, 67 apps. for Valencia. And Juve and Barca don't put donkeys in goal, do they?
