Newcastle United v AFC Bournemouth

That was a great result....any draw away against a higher placed team is a great result.

Why do fans bang on about mistakes...every single game in Football History has had mistakes..without them all the games would end 0-0 surely .
One mistake in today's game could have meant a 1- 0 defeat.... but both teams made roughly the same amount of mistakes according to the commentary I was tuned to...and I worked it out that 4-4 could easily have resulted.
You look at the table now and the fixtures remaining and you can see that only a total BH postcode bufoon or any of the surrounding village's currently reigning village idiot would have Boscombe relegated.
So....we can afford quite a few more mistakes yet... which is quite handy for Mr Iraola to carry on experimenting and comprehensively acclimatising to this league...ready for a top ten habituation next season...and thereafter.

Let's not forget Frederick's getting blatantly pulled back by his shirt in the area at Fulham last season but nothing given.
It's f*cking embarrassing now.
Fredericks?

The best injured player we've ever signed, since Stanislas.

Have liked what we've seen of Fredericks, but Jesus, he makes Stanislas look fit

Mate, they didn’t have a fit striker, most of their midfield out injured and they had Jacob Murphy playing centre forward for the last thirty minutes. They had to resort to bringing Matt Ritchie on to try and save the game for goodness sake! If you truly believe what we faced today was a champions league standard side then I don’t know what to say. I’m not sure why so many are struggling with the context here.
The context?

What context?

We went to Newcastle away and gave a bloody good showing and could easily have taken 3 points, bar a stupid decision from firstly our aging RB Smith, and a further stupid decision by the ref.

We looked like the home team at times.

You really are a massive bell-end.

When it's the same players making them, game after game, mistakes need to be highlighted.

If they're one offs people see past it.

Cook has some brilliant moments, and just as many bad ones.

At this level, you need to learn from it.

Cook has made enough errors that went unpunished in the last 20 games, that had they all gone against us he could have cost us 7 or 8 goals.

He's good, but he presents opportunities every single game to the opposition, through his own errors.

If we want to climb the table, he needs a direct competitor.

Hopefully its Adams.

What was his error? If he hadnt got a foot to the ball it would have been a tap in anyway...Why was he the only defender on his feet there to get the ball?

Edited... Its Lewis fault for getting in to block the tap in? Not his fault the rebound off the keeper fell to Ritchie. If only we had a taller defender who could have out jumped Ritchie in the first place...

You have to remember that our players are not much above Championship standard ; Since we got into the PL in 2015 we've had only a bare minimum of PL standard players..such as Ake.

O'Neil produced a near miracle last season.
Iraola equally as impressive this season.

The club and team are severely hampered and stifled by the bizarre Recruiting Team forays into the home and foreign markets injury quarters !

Agree, this is not Cook’s fault. Perhaps he could have gone with his left, but no guarantee it ends with a different result.

Difficult to win a header when you’ve slipped and are on your backside!

Your continual criticism of Lewis Cook is getting beyond a joke now. You have had a pop at him at least 5 times on this thread alone. He was by far our best player today which was backed up by Steve Howey on the match commentary.

Steve Howey said he had a great first half.

I agree that he had a great first half, was very good.

Steve Howey didn't mention him second half.

As they say, football is a game of two halves.

Nil goals first half, 4 in the second.

I really don't rate Cook at all, I'm sorry.

He is a liability, as we have seen with him gifting the opposition 2 goals in the last 2 games.

Solid player, but error prone.

Can't take a free kick or corner for toffee either, despite being a 'dead ball' specialist.

One of the weakest links in our team as far as I am concerned.

All opinions of course.

He had a very good first half...... then the errors creep in.

Hoping Adams will displace him.

Time will tell.

I would much rather us scrape enough points together playing like today than scrape enough points together like last season. I was going to say, imagine what this team would be like with the pressure of points behind them. No way we would see the absolute shite we saw the last four games of last season.

As for Newcastle being under strength, well that’s their problem to sort out. They are still 7th even with the injury list they have had all season

Header??

Was nowhere near his head.

He kicked it to Ritchie.

Whose ball was it from defence to Solanke for Semenyo’s goal? Was it Cook?
For every good thing Cook does offensively, which is fcking rare, he makes defensive errors that result in opposition goals.

He has almost zero assists and goal assists to his name.

Despite taking corners and free kicks.

He isn't good enough and needs replacing.

An opinion, one you clearly disagree with.

He has cost us goals more than he's ever created any.

F√cking Lineker eh ? What a Dinlo !
..last MoTD again...

Wolves at the dull stuff again ?
Spurs don't like ol' Gary much do they.... Recall that typically dull performance when he had the Cherries winning 3-2 there..

Re the referee looking at the monitor.

Listening to the game on Solent it seemed from what was being said that the referee must of looked at it a dozen times.

So surely if it takes him that long there must have been an element of doubt, so surely no penalty.

But what was also mentioned was it seemed he was looking to find something to give a penalty.

All the discussion and views will NOT make a difference to the result and no doubt something will happen again soon and the discussions will start all over again.

VAR was supposed to be a useful tool that would give answers and help officials.

All it seems to have done is get people asking more questions about the decisions being made by those using VAR.
