I feel sorry for the fans if this happens. I also don't understand how the signing was sanctioned if they weren't allowed to make signings like this.

When we were under an embargo every signing had to be ratified by the authorities. They even famously said we could sign someone of we released our third keeper (Scriven?) and then changed their minds and wouldn't let Lovell join us on a free after the keeper had gone. Surely this is as much their failing as well as one at Birmingham?

Still, never mind the fans, points deductions are always the best solution.

Surely every signing has to be registered to the league/FA? For example on deadline day people always say there is a rush to get the paperwork sorted and back to the league? 12 point deduction would be incredible harsh

So if I read this right - Birmingham were not allowed to sign more than 5 players and all had to be free transfers or loans and on wages of less that £10k a week. So the idiots then buy a player for £2 million and hope no one notices. No sympathy for the club whatsoever, and as Blandford Cherry says why did the league allow it.

Always the smaller clubs in the s##t....never the top six ! Let's all wish Brum City the worst of all luck, hope they die eh? ..and as it's International week all go to up to Manc. and lick the walls of Old Traff, nip across to Anfield and buy everything in the club shop!
Naughty, Naughty Birmingham....slap slap slap you down!
Jail the chairman, but let him have pictures of Brian Clough, Harry Redders, Don Revie and Lester Piggot on the cell wall!
If you get bored at any time at DC .have a copy of the Financial Times in your Manbags and have a jolly good read ..get your rocks off!

I dont understand how this happened, clubs under embargo or restrictions have to run all their potential signings past the Football League before they can happen. And if the FL dont want it, it doesn't happen.

For example we couldn't sign Charlie Austin at all, or for a year Steve Lovell, because the FL refused to sign off on the paperwork for those signings.

If Brum were allowed to overspend whilst under the embargo, then it's a failure of process on the Football League's part as much as anything.

...would a Liverpool.....Man City.....or Chelsea ever get a 12 point deduction?....and they ‘procure’ players illegally most of the time?

They knew they were breaking the rules so deservedly they should get deducted 12 points. I can guarantee the Danish player was pocketing more than £10,000 a week!

Wareham Rangers fielded a Giant Duck once ( b#stard was still on the books of Poole Park Lakers Fc , the FA went quackers! Fined them a bag of manure together with a 10 points deDucksion. Having no livestock on the squad they couldnt pay the Bill so got relegated from the Dorset Combination to the Swineage and District Div.

So...why doesn't the person(s) who are responsible for the ' financial' error get sacked or punished in some way instead of the fans and the players suffering for the season ahead?

Actually that is a good outcome for them. Should be safe from relegation anyway, and weren't going up so keep their status and EFL seen to have done something

So you’re in favour of owners racking up huge debts, then going into voluntary admin, basically leaving many many creditors (some no doubt fans or employees of the club) with little or no chance of receiving what is legally owed to them?

Shameful behaviour.

AFCB would never anything like that.

oh.

hang on..................................................

And we got punished for it, even though it wasn’t the players or fans' fault. Many fans lost a lot of money that was owed to them.

Points deduction has been a good a deterrent in recent years. Who were the last club to go into admin and have points deducted?
