Cannot see that going down well as Dean is a ref who likes control and authority.

Hes still one of the better refs. But yes he must have been poor for a game here!

If people think he's one of the better refs, I think it says more about the standard (or lack of) of the other refs than it does about Dean.

He sticks in the memory, which isn't good. He was the referee at Burnley in 2020. The decisions that day were beyond redemption. No good blaming VAR or him continuing with that avenue. Wasn't it him who also gave Palace a penalty against Charlie Daniels for the standard grappling at a corner at Selhurst Park? Luckily Boruc saved that one.

If Dean is considered to be one of the better refs then the pgmol have really failed to improve the standard.
