Southampton v AFC Bournemouth

Interesting if a neutral was looking at the stats and think surely they must have printed that result the wrong way round.

Saints, shots 25, on target 6

Cherries, shots 6, on target 3.

But watching all the second half their finishing was woeful.

They but a £20 million striker and leave him sitting on the bench until near the end of the game where he might just have given us a bit of ‘bovver’.

It was very much like the Villa away game. They may have had a lot of shots but the reality was we defended pretty well and limited them to very few clear cut chances. When you’re not playing well you need to keep it tight and be hard to score against and tonight we managed that.

On the talk of stats, I do think we need to make to clear how the possession stat is calculated nowadays (as in since the mid-00s). It isn't like a chess clock, it's about numbers of passes. So I receive the ball from kick off, spend five minutes dribbling around everyone and shoot wide. Then keeper boots it upfield, they win a nod-down and the possession stats will say 66% opposition

Did anyone listen to the game on Solent?

Wondered what the views of both Willo and ‘Ill tell you this’ Dave Merrington were?
