That's not as mad as it sounds... Hell, I'd have taken Brett Pitman at Centre Back a few weeks ago.
 
Just goes to show how your memory can play tricks on you. I remember Fletch as being fantastic when he had to play at centre back!
 
I always thought he did alright as well

In more recent times I wonder what Matt Ritchie thought when we signed him and he spent his first few games playing at full back
 
My abiding memory of fletch in defence was the runaround at Huddersfield in 94/95. Not suited there at all.
 
Fletch as Centre Half made Rantie 4 look dynamic. It was dire. Not much better up front either. In those days that volley had Row Z all over it,

hahaha, a shapr intake of breath seeing a decent cross being delivered, all eyes turning to the other side of the box to see who would be there to meet and a groan before the ball's even fallen out of the sky
 
That model of Fletch in the club shop is no longer there.

Have Madame Tussaud's got it now or has it come to life?
