To be fair our away dressing room isn't a patch on the home one. Wooden benches no safes or lockers for valuables, less toilets, open showers and nowhere for a tactics board. Ours has nice showers, a plunge pool, nice lockers, safes , speakers in the ceiling and astro turf training area and gym next to it.
Burnley love to play the hard done by card. No money, crumbling stadium , players who wouldn't look out of place on pub door, wooden seats, **** weather and a football style that Stoke would be proud of. A unfashionable club who no one outside of Burnley gives a single toss about. With Burnley it's all about averages. Win wide free kicks, put diagonal balls into the box and compete fairly or mostly unfairly for the headers. Eventually they'll win one and score. Their outfield play is limited , foul the opposition when they are defending and bemoan every free kick given against them with the referee. Lots of shirt tugging and cynical fouling. It's a ' stop the player' at all costs tactic. When attacking the flood forward and look to fall over and scream at every tackle winning free kicks either centrally to ping out wide , or out wide to ping into the box. Very rarely do they go long ball directly into the box. They like the angle and a bit of ' whip' to cause problems.
They do what they do very well. It's difficult to play against but if you do play against them, with pace and the ball on the turf they cant cope. They target teams in the bottom half of the table to get their points. They bully teams when away. Haranguing the referee on every decision and tackle. They time waste like masters and they do everything to wind up the home crowd. It horrible , horrible football but it wins them matches. Can't stand Dyche either but he is wonderfully suited to them being grey and drab and unfashionable with a voice that could sharpen knives. Would love to beat them on their vegetable patch and one day happily cheering their relegation.
