"Throwing a pie without lawful excuse"

Wow, I thought my 'entering a sporting venue' charge was crazy specific. I'd love to see where 'throwing a pie without lawful excuse onto a football pitch without lawful excuse' is on the statute books especially given it's horrendous use of grammar, and how long it was debated in the Commons and Lords before making it onto statute

If it's the same one, I saw it happen. Carabau cup. Half the pie landed on a woman several rows in front.

But you see they have to distinguish his act from that of a pie throwing competition.

I got thrown out (along with an innocent mate) from the Main Stand at Crewe on Guy Fawkes night in 1976 for throwing a pint of beer in the direction of the linesman.
Most of it missed but soaked a few in front of me.
We got back in after a spell in the black maria van. Unfortunately the end we got back into was the Crewe end.
Happy days.

I can't remember any old fellas being escorted out or being required to attend court after hurling those famous red cushions onto the pitch whilst shouting abuse at Barry Knight in 1995?

Nowadays that'd be on your record for life...

He could put to his defence barrister that the pie was infected with Mad Cow Desease and was disposed of interfrastically under the Health & Safety Act 1974.

I also saw food being thrown, but it wasn't as the paper reports it(Hazard scoring late goal), it was during the first half. Dont even recall it being over anything contentious, maybe he just didnt like it! Stewards were looking closely, gave the impression they knew who it was, and i was expecting them to take him out at half time (minimal fuss)

You are right there Rob, different times, different standards. Back then you were likely to get a boot up the backside from the local coppers and told to behave. And of course there is nothing like the stupidity of youth:)
