Simon Francis

Think Eddie may have had serious words following Huddersfield. Franno really played well, delighted for him.

Eddie also stood up for Simon in the press. Simon is showing that it was justified. Eddie gets huge love as a manager, and the way he deals with the players shows his greatest skill.

Completely agree. Arguably his best two performances of the season have come not long after one of the worst performances he has had in a Bournemouth shirt. Couldn't fault him today up against some of the best in the league

Happy enough with this. I can't see him starting week in week out come the 19/20 season. And I hope we sign defender(s) that will mean we rely less on him next season.

I can see him around the club on a daily basis in 2020 and beyond, doing his coaching badges, taking youth team sessions, eventually joining the cohort of Howe lieutenants at the club. He's already taken on Arter's youth team coaching business, so he's clearly interested in a future coaching kids.

AFC Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake said: “Simon is an integral part of the club, both on and off the pitch.

“He has proved himself more than capable of making the step up each time we have gained promotion, and this contract extension is fully deserved.

“As well as being an excellent player, Simon is also an outstanding professional and a leader in the dressing room.

“He sets a fantastic example to those around him and that is especially important for the younger players at the club.”

Another ball boy like Fletch maybe!!

Well done Simon
That will piss a few people off,
The only player who will be out of contact come the end of June is Mark Pugh.

Pugh isn't out of contract. Its being mis-reported by a few copy cat websites but all first team squad members are under contract until at least 2019.

Makes sense Franno to sign this deal. He put a few good performances in towards the end of the season, but I'd hope he'll be more of a backup when we upgrade our defence this summer....

Hence why I voted he'd still be captain. There's no way he stays captain for so long without having a big influence off the pitch.

I don't want him to start, but he's great to have as backup.

He should be made into club captain like Fletch was,and eased out of the team captain role.
Make Steve Cook vice captain instead of Surman, then if Franno doesn't play, the future captain steps in.

This is nuts. His performances have been on the wane for a while and he should not be in the team next season. He makes far too many errors and he's slow. What he's like off the pitch is irrelevant. He can always be brought back as a coach when he retires. Jobs for the old boys.

I'm not sure about this. I appreciate he started having a few decent games at the latter part of the season but extending his contract until aged 35 seems a bit strange.

It’s not what we think of him that counts, though I have always said he has been one of our best signings.

When you heard what Nathan Ake said about him at the awards ceremony, that’s what counts.

Been a reliable player at our club and in that time not missed that many games.

I wonder what the Charlton fans thought when we went up from one division to the next until we reached the PL with Simon have outstanding performances on that ride?

Sometimes our fans have short memories.
