Lewis Cook

Lewis Cook will look to attack. One wonderful moment yesterday when he turned and left 2 players in his wake. He has a lot to learn and has had some excellent games. Away to spurs last season I thought he was outstanding.

There were several really good passes yesterday. Of course he makes mistakes, who doesn't. What he doesn't do is make the same mistake time and time again. Ibe came on yesterday and ran with the ball, beat 2 players and than ran into a third. Lost it and set up an attack. He does that every game.

Overall I'm happy with not conceding and being 6th. As others have said there are times in the past when we would have lost that one nil. Our back 5 were able to stop everything. Helped by some poor finishing.

Hughes got it right yesterday. He seems to have become a fan of game management. Strange, thought he hated that.

As many of you have said before...playing two in central midfield against some of the worlds strongest midfielders does none of our midfielders any favours.

I still think this team will reach its pinnacle when we get Brooks or Stanislas playing behind one striker, preferably King in my book. That will help our central two with an out ball. We will need this for games v top six in my opinion.

He Will get out of second gear......when we play Man Utd , Arsenal and Liverpool is my guess. I don't need to explain this further do I?

I nearly didn't post this...it's a big cynical...but there is something not quite right with this player in our set up...

I’m going to defend Ibe here as you are wrong on this occasion.

He actually did the one thing we’ve always wanted him to do. Instead of slowing it down, he immediately turned and ran with the ball. He left Bertrand for dead, but unfortunately all our team too. Not one of them could keep up and he had no option. Only Messi or Hazard could have found a way out yesterday with no support.

I'm not wrong. That's exactly what he did. I saw him.

We will see the best of him in a midfield 3 because he will not have to do as much defending. If Lerma plays as a holding mid we can have 2 creative players in front of him. we will see the real attacking abilities that Lewis possesses then.

When there is no teammate within 30 yards and you are closed down by a 3rd and 4th defender you need to be a genius to find a pass.

You are correct. He did try to to take on the 3rd defender. Apart from putting a cross into an empty penalty box, taking him on was the only realistic option.

He could have stopped and passed to a colleague. Held the ball up. My concern is that he does this every game and it results in the opposition attacking us.

The hypocrisy regarding Cook and Ibe is incredible....every mistake Ibe makes is highlighted yet no one mentions Cooks mistakes!.....although its easy to forget he's actually on the pitch tbf.

What nonsense. Every player makes mistakes, all our players do.

Its about earning the right to make mistakes. If Cook or Ake make a mistake that results in the goal then its annoying but we know their quality and we know how rare it is. Same to some extent goes for Lewis. If a player like Ibe makes mistakes every game and hasnt built up goodwill then of course people will raise it. Ibe didnt do much wrong when he came on...I wouldn't moan about his performance Saturday but it also didnt show me anything to say he is worth his place on the bench either.

I'm not a mind reader, but I suspect that Eddie had realised that we weren't going to break them down using our normal passing and moving game so thought it was worth trying something different in the final phase of the match IE throwing Jordon on with the instructions to take them on individually at every opportunity to see if we could get through their defence that way. It was a difficult ask, and very unfair to criticise him if he was just following Eddie's instructions.

Sorry Druss but i'm not sure i understand the point of your post....why would Lewis Cook have built up more goodwill amongst fans than Jordon Ibe ? who it has to be said won us some really important points last year....Franno gets criticised on here ...Gosling and Surman too...have they not built up enough "Goodwill" to qualify for the same free pass that Lewis seems to have?...what exactly is the criteria?
