I don’t think, personally, Ake isn’t having as good a season as last year. But he’s not to blame.

We haven’t had a consistent back 4 for probably more than 2-3 games in a row this season, maybe even less than that. The left back role has had 3-4 different players, same with right back. Maybe it’s consistency or maybe it’s jusy the opposition we’ve faced since November

It should be better now we have a couple of capable and generally reliable full backs in Smith and Clyne. Give them a couple games to settle in, and our flanks should start to become a bit more secure. As @blandford_cherry says, play a consistent back 4 (Clyne Cook Ake Smith) for a run of games and that'll help.

I don't have any firm evidence to hand, but this season feels like the team selections have been more highly variable than any prior Eddie season. I guess it's to be expected when we're in a transition period between the Championship heros and the new more expensive buys.
 
...am I the only one a tad concerned that he is injured at the moment? If there are any complications with this I hope that we have included some sort of compensation clause (same with Solanke?)
 
Would be very much an “Eddie buy” and would look a decent player for us, certainly area that needs strengthening

We all know Mings is out the door but would be nice to know what’s actually happened although if you believe the rumours then you can suspect why Eddie has had enough.

What are the rumours? Sorry it's a genuine question, has he done something wrong?

The answer to this is because we play a pressing game high up the pitch and so we are always vulnerable from the quick breaking counter attack from the opposition should we lose possession. Secondly, although I do admire Steve Cook for his work rate, application and effort, he does however have the turn of an 'ocean liner' and the speed of a 'dumper truck' and is too slow for a centre back in the Premier League in my opinion. This why I have been saying for two seasons that we need an accomplished centre back comensurate with this division as a matter of urgency.
