AFC Bournemouth v Manchester City

One thing which impressed me today was the concentration level of the players, you could see it in Surman’s face in particular, they knew that one mistake could be fatal. Would need to see the goal again as it was down the far end but it looked a trifle lucky how it fell to Mahrez rather than poor play on our part?

did u see the way the players reacted to artur at half-time? all rushed up to him lauging & joking. can only assume he was on some sort of clean sheet bonus. or maybe they were laughing at his kicking?

So was it handball as it came across the area? Mepham immediately appealed and Surman was very angry with the ref. I couldn’t tell but anyone else see it?

We didn't have a chance at any stage of that game Liam....how can you say we had a chance when we can't muster a single shot.

Fair point but I meant we were still in contention. And also I don't think us not mustering a shot was down to tactics or formation, it was down to our front 5 all being well below par.

To be honest it was just nice to see us sticking to a plan for once and not bombing forward, getting caught out and being 3-0 down at half time.

We had a back 3 which contained 2 players with 4 premier league caps between them. We had probably 5 first team starters out, and Brooks still not fully fit. Yet we managed to make it difficult for one of the best premier league sides of all time. I'm proud of that even if not our usual style!

Just thinking back to the game yesterday, I said to the others in our group that the way we were playing would frustrate City.

How wrong I was, they stuck to keep probing away at our 11 man defence and not lose their composure.

In the end they got their reward with the one goal of the game and if we are honest, the game was over for us.

At half-time, my thoughts were, Eddie 1 Pep 0.

Its a funny old game.

We played the same tactics at home to Chelsea. Weathered a rougher storm in the first half against them. Still dont know how we went in even. Then got lucky with a couple of breakaway goals and Chelsea gave up.

Im sure everyone on this thread looks back at that match positively. The same tactic almost works against Man City and some are crying about it.

Not sure what Eddie has to do for some.

If we had got a point yesterday and until they scored I thought we might have squeezed one out (as I mentioned yesterday).

If we had got a point, think everyone would have been happy.

Yeah but written down on paper it was 4-4-2...

Well said.

Only heard it on the Radio.......but No shots on goal....

Its got to be said ...if that had been a cup tie, say Yeovil v Man City im sure 3 or 4 attempts at goal would occur..whats going on?
Liverpool v Havant and Waterlooville comes to mind!
Fear Fear Fear....and more...!
No wonder the Top Six get more distant!
City would probably be 6 up at half time.
