Non - Brexit

Watch videos of the previous speaker meekly asking for order and having no control to actually appreciate someone who stands up to others no matter who they are.

I think hes great and that's nothing to do with his perceived view on subjects. He almost didn't have a seat when a Dolphin nearly beat him.

I've no problem with him procedurally, in fact he takes that part of it very seriously and seems pretty good to me.

Anyone who doesn't think the bloke is one of the most pompous bellends in politics needs their head examining. He makes me cringe every time he speaks.

What an embarrassment/disgrace and shower that lot in Parliament have been over the last number of weeks or months

Who voted for these people ?

Not a great advert for sovereignty and taking back control of law making.

Jim, what on earth are you suggesting? We should scrap Parliament in favour of something else? Come on, try and actually make a clear point for once.

The voters put their elected representatives as that lot in Parliament, maybe those voters share the blame for the omnishambles for not holding their representative to account since the planning for Brexit unfolded.

Seems the unelected EU is being replaced by elected MPs as the scapegoat for it all going nowhere at great expense.

Fair enough but the crucial point is that they are more accountable because they are directly elected. Don't get me wrong I personally would like to see lots of constitutional reform but it's better than being unelected.

The Speaker is dominating the House ...in the style of a Reality show Diva....not joking...this is how this bloke is coming across. However he is going at it within the Laws he has access to.....power, in the absence of anything else making sense! Unique Politics, as unfolding before us. One positive is ..it is nowhere near as bad as the USA under Trump.
If , irrespective of who wins this mess, we stand strong as a nation during a period of uncertainty under such World Leaders as Trump and Putin... we have hope!
Not sure what someone like Bercow gives us on that score? Order.. Order? The Big Picture cannot be ignored!

Its the Speakers job to control the House. It hasn't suddenly changed since Brexit. Its what the Leavers were craving a return to. Now they've found something else to say isn't working.

From what I'm reading, there are ways around Bercows ruling, so I'm not quite sure why some Brexiters are getting their knickers I a twist.
As with football referees, all we can ask is that decisions are taken / rules enforced consistently and impartially, then nobody can have any complaints. Having been used very rarely, I look forward to this precedent being followed more often in future.

I note that when the shoe was on the other foot in January, when Pro-Brexit MPs wanted Mr Bercow to follow Parliamentary precedent about the timescales for debates following defeated votes, Mr Speaker did not follow precedent. I quote him: “If we were guided only by precedent, manifestly nothing in our procedures would ever change". An interesting change of heart.

As with all referees, this is his prerogative of course.

However I also note that Mr Speaker has this morning rejected calls to publish the advice he had received from his clerks on the rule, which isn't a good look for him or our Parliament. And it doesn't help dispel any feelings that may exist of Mr Speaker not being wholly impartial.

as with most refs, he's in a very tricky position whereby he's going to upset someone

Yeah Rob..thats how it looks at this point... and Listening to most people in the street now it seems 90% just want Compromise and Democracy somehow delivered. The extreme Left or Right are being seen as a hindrance with their dated nonsense...producing individuals as seen in NZ!
