Hi guys ............

The last few months have worn me out (can't imagine how you "legends" do it season by season), and I am going to take a month or so off from the Forum to recharge for the Championship.

However, I wanted to start a thread for those of us who hope to follow the team from a distance next season. Any ideas, tips, etc. will be welcome.

For Canada, best bet seems to be EFLiFollow.

https://www.efl.com/iFollow/

As best as I can tell, your team (i,e, AFCB) can opt in to participate. If so, you can buy a subscription which will give you most games live video (some restrictions apply) and all games audio. It looks like about half of this current Championship roster participate.

If AFCB does not opt in, it appears that you could still see some AFCB matches by paying a game-by-game match fee to join using a team that has opted in. So, for example, if Brentford has opted in and we are playing Brentford, you would pay to access Brentford's feed.

The team gets a percentage of the iFollow proceeds.

I have sent an email to enquiries@afcb.co.uk asking if they are considering participating in this platform.

Also in Canada, DAZN provides some Championship games. Looks like a small percentage to me, maybe 10% of games. I have written to them to ask for confirmation.

Now that it's said and done, I am looking forward to a new experience next year (for one, just learning where these various places are!). If I can get 65-75% of the games on authorized streams, I can make that work.

Cheers.

J.

PS - many thanks to @AFCBfan for pointing me in this direction some months ago

I'm in a similar but slightly different boat. I see Spanish DAZN does have some Championship games on their service but probably the odds of them showing a game with Bournemouth playing are pretty remote. Maybe three games a season if I'm lucky. I might look into iFollow if AFCB joins in, otherwise I'll be back doing what I used to do, listening to the games live on the COWS Radio Solent stream.

It's actually very enjoyable listening to games and with a bit of luck AFCBTV will post match highlights on COWS if permitted to do so. Otherwise I'll have to search the TV channels for an EFL weekly roundup show worth watching.

But if all else fails, give the radio stream on COWS a go John. It's quite nostalgic listening to a match on the "radio" again :)

The club would be idiotic to not join iFollow so I would assume they will be signing up.

For the first time in our history we've collected a small but perfectly formed cabal of fans scattered around the world who aren't directly connected to the town. If the intention is to get back into the PL then keeping those fans engaged whilst we're in the Championship should also be an immediate goal.

Some will drift away anyway since we aren't in the PL anymore but trying to keep hold of those that are committed to the club makes a lot of sense and there's no better way to do so than making sure everyone can get access to the matches live.

Hope so. Will let you all know when/if I get a reply from the Club. Maybe we should form a write-in campaign to the Club to encourage it to participate in iFollow.

All Championship games have been available on streams.
To be honest I've been down that road before and always ended up going back to the COWS Solent Stream. It's just such a faff finding a reliable video stream and having it freeze or disappear completely at the worst possible moment just did my head in.

I now prefer to pay for a service where I can be sure it will be reliable and where there is at least a contact address I can send an angry email to when the service is not up to scratch

Im the same. Never had any luck with watching streams. For example with the 8-0 away at Birmingham... I’d assumed it was about 1-5... I had no sound, it buffered as they were about to take a penalty so missed Boruc saving it, Rantie didn’t score any goals and Pugh only scored twice...

I even missed Southampton’s goal recently and that was with a proper stream but Virgin Go went down for 15 mins...

I'm hoping we go down the iFollow route ,seems like the best option given the time till the start of next season. I'm going to email the club today as well. Happy to join in any write in campaign etc , maybe this is something Nanchos can pick up and lead on behalf of our North American fanbase ??

Any one know if you can watch game replays on the same day , been spoiled with NBC app for last 5 years where if I can't watch game live where I've been able to watch full match 30 mins or so after game ends in replay mode (with phone off to avoid spoilers !) .

On the iFollow help page it says:

"Full match replays and highlights will be available on iFollow following the match."

Doesn't say how quickly they appear. I see no reason why it shouldn't be pretty much instantly after the match though.

It would be silly not to. It is not like fans will choose the cheaper option. We will always fill 11k in the championship. I am just delighted that we have fans from abroad that are sticking by the cherries.

We will always fill 11k in the championship

unless we’re challenging, I very much doubt that

Thanks Kirsikka, always handy to have the replay option available shortly after the game ends. Unlikely to get too many local folks spoiling the Bournemouth result when I'm out and about here in NH even with my AFCB facemask on !!

I've used iFollow to watch a few AFC Wimbledon matches. (BITD, I used to live near Selhurst Park and became a fan of Wimbledon as my premiership side because you could get a ticket to most matches.)

One trick I learned was not to buy a match pass and decide to watch the match later. After about 24 hours, your pass expires!

The service is okay. Sometimes there were problems with audio matching visual. An online acquaintance of mine follow Sunderland. They didn't use iFollow and their service was really bad.

So, fingers crossed that the club takes the iFollow route. It's reasonable for what it is.

When you want to watch the match later, is it easy to get to watching the match without finding out the score?

I live in North Carolina and a friend texted me minutes after we were confirmed down. He said he was sorry we were relegated and then asked “who will you pull for now with AFCB being relegated?”:cautious: Told him no one! I’ll follow my team in the championship. The number of “front runners” in the states is sickening....he’s a Man Utd fan.

8-0 away at Birmingham was years ago, streams are much better these days, I can't remember the last time I had a bad match stream.
Good picture quality too.

I live in the States now so it's fairly easy to keep ignorant of the football results for a while if one wants to, but back in Blighty it might be more difficult.

Haven't tried iFollow yet, so not sure. With DAZN, you clicked on the match you wanted and it always came up at the start. However, they did show "spoilers" along a nav bar ("goal", "pen", "red card", "woodwork") but you could turn off that function.
Hopefully iFollow will have similar functionality.

Here is what I have received from EFL:

We can confirm that AFC Bournemouth will not be using the iFollow service next season, however they may be setting up an independent streaming service.

When Bournemouth play a team that uses the iFollow system then you would be able to subscribe for a match pass for the opposition Club. As I mentioned it may also be worth checking as to whether Bournemouth will be offering their own streaming service as this would allow you to subscribe on a seasonal basis to your Club.

EFL have not yet updated their roster for promotion/relegation, but it looks as if about half the 2019/20 Championship teams were in (Brentford in, Fulham not, so that worked out), so arguably 20+ matches will be available. DAZN will also have a few I suspect.

I have contacted the Club about its plans, but no response so far. Will keep you informed.
