He's gone

Was a shame there were no fans in the ground when we went down / Eddie would have got a rousing roar of support despite all our frustrations and disappointments. Sad ending to quietly walk away like this.

Obviously totally gutted about tonight’s events. I was in the camp of people who thought he had earned the right to survive a relegation and be given the opportunity to bounce back.

We don’t know any of the circumstances behind tonight’s announcement but for some of you to be spouting crap such as if he goes to another club (Palace - Bristol) “he would be dead to me” is utterly pathetic.

We all know the history of AFCB and Eddie Howe. He has made all our dreams come true over the last decade. To be honest, I never even dreamed we would make it to the Premier League.

So please, after all he has done for us, do not disrespect him just because he is leaving us by mutual consent. I personally can’t thank him enough for the wonderful memories, the sparkling football we witnessed and the total joy he has given my Dad, myself and my kids.

He is only 42. Of course he is going to get another job somewhere else. It is ridiculous to slag him off for doing that.

Honestly, I am totally gutted, but just at losing him, not at Eddie himself.

If he leaves us for personal reasons I have no problem with that but if he leaves the club he “loves” only to turn up two weeks later at another club then I’m afraid he loses all credibility with me. To leave us in the lurch like this, when we are already in turmoil, is not the action of somebody who loves the club, unless he genuinely believes we will be better off without him.
I will never forget his achievements with us but if he turns up at another club anytime soon, then for me his image will be seriously tarnished and I wouldn’t trust a word he ever said ever again. Maybe “dead” is overstating it, I’m hurting, but I would never see him with the same eyes again.

No point in speculating or pointing fingers...however this happened it must be wrench for Eddie to leave and a hard decision to let him go if that was how it occurred....
We move on and must hope that whoever comes in can do a job for us....it may work in our favour to have a new broom and someone not so emotionally immersed in the club...it is a results business after all?

I’m desperately trying to imagine a scenario 12 months from now, where having blitzed the Championship under our new manager ( insert name here ) we are all saying that Eddie’s epiphany that somebody else taking charge would be better for the club was the best thing to ever happen to us.

This Whisky isn’t cutting it though, might need something stronger, possibly something illegal !

Maybe EH could see the writing on the financial wall with no cast iron promise of a new stadium and/or training ground . The prospect of players and assets being sold to offset debts he might not have wished to be part of the decline. I wish him well wherever he ends up.
Surely if you love the club and accept that you are the best man for the job, the things you mention shouldn’t be an issue. You do the best with what you’ve got for the club you love, surely ? If you walk away in that situation it smacks of self interest IMO.

Maybe he thinks he has given the best years to the club and might wish to move on after a rest to a new challenge at a club with possibly more financial assets and a larger stadium . Life goes on even after a marriage ends ,

He’s gone,no point crying and throwing your toys out ffs. It’s a new chapter at the club and if they get it right who knows what could happen. Eddie did great but looked like he was drained and maybe he knew it could get worse and ruin all the great he did.
We will survive and be fine as a club we have been there and done it and Experienced much worse and we are still standing (shakily at times )

...it would be normal to feel that you may want to move on and have a new challenge, we can all speculate until the cows come home!

Meanwhile there is a football club that needs to continue and compete again in a few weeks time....focus now should be on that...

I think his brain had turned into over cooked spagetti,
Mental pressure building up.
Vicky telling him to quit the job before it destroyed him.
A break and he will be back when we sack the next manager.
In the mean time he has millions to play with, so he won't get bored.
Strange he didn't tell his mates about his decision before telling the media. That part of the story tells me he was mentally gone.

An absolute lrgend for us and you could argue that we would still be in the Prem if it wasn't for those ridiculous VAR overturns away against Burnley!

I agree with a previous poster who said that because EH was virtually unsackable might have led to some players being fully aware of this and playing accordingly. Also, playing square pegs in round holes didn't help either!

However business is business! We are obviously going to lose our best players and a player's agent wouldn't be worth his salt if he wasn't trying to fix his player up with an instant return tp the Prem. After all, would you take a 25% or 50% pay cut if you didn't have to?

I understand from those posting on here that Max is owed a lot of money and if this is true then it is understandable if he wants to be paid back through player sales.

If this is the case then there is obviously a major re-building job that needs to be done, virtually from scratch if most of the first team leave to go back to the Prem.

I obviously wish Eddie all the best for the future.

However I'm guessimg that he might have had a better offer elsewhere and I wouldn't be shocked if he was appointed by another team in the next week or two. After all, he left us before when he went to Burnley!
