Mark Travers

Football is a fickle and hypocritical sport. He was appalling in his final games for us. I’ve not been too impressed with his social media activities since.

If he knuckles down, earns the starting spot on merit and has a barnstorming season, will I be chanting his name at the promotion parade? Of course I will.

Theres too much at stake to be too precious. Warnock once signed a player he called a sewer rat. As U-turns go, this wouldn’t even register on the Boris-scale.

I seriously cannot believe he is still on our books (Bego that is.) Surely someone will take him for nothing?
Because we are obliged to pay his wages. Why should he go somewhere else and accept a pay cut ? He has a contract with us, so if nobody is prepared to pay what we are paying, he can just stay here and pocket the dough. I'm sure we wouldn't be looking for much of a fee but the trouble is trying to find some other mugs who are prepared to pay him what we have committed ourselves to do.

Both Travers and Begovic have to step up to the mark and put in performances to get game time. If either, or both, can't do it then get rid and bring someone in who can be reliable. Travers is my preferred choice but he needs polishing a bit.

I don't get this at all. If he's on the books and trains well he should get the same chance as the rest of them. Sure he lost form but he's had many years of decent form at a higher level and internationally. Judge all players on their merits and current form.
Because he’s shite and his attitude stinks. Not to mention his ridiculous wages.

This is just knee-jerk nonsense. He definitely lost form but I don't see why youd write him off forever because of that, lots of people go through drops in form. I've no idea what the problem is with his attitude other than he was not happy getting dropped - no sh*t.

Unless we sell him we have to pay his wages regardless. Even more reason to give him a fair go at getting back in the side.

We've not fallen out with the guy like a teenage girls' squabble. It's professional football - bury the hatchet and get on with it.

Just because others have said Wilson should go doesn't mean I have. I'd sell begovic if we could but I suspect nobody is prepared to pay for him... so if he's on the books it absolutely should be a clean slate and see how he trains. Same goes for Wilson, Harry Arter or anyone else. Why would you rule players out without giving them a chance? If they are still crap they get dropped.
I’m with you but there is another criteria here about attitude. Big names can be toxic sometimes and hanging around not playing hurts their ego and brings this out. ‘Word on the street’ ahem... was that Jermaine Defoe needed moving on for this reason but trained well and just training well isn’t always enough.

So if he is physically and mentally right thy en of course everyone on the payroll is up for the shirt, anything else is madness if nobody comes in for them.
