Rodrigo Riquelme

You do realise that two of those three you mentioned are frequently out injured ? I think we are bringing him in as decent cover for those two, not as a replacement at all. We also get to have a good look at him until January. If a PL club then comes in and offers us the 50 million we want for Brooks and Rodders has done well in the meantime, we might be in a position to be able to let DB go without scuppering our entire season. I think it's a smart move in either scenario. Cover initially and potentially a replacement later on. Hopefully we have an option to buy if he does well for us, not a big fan of paying good money to improve other teams' players !

You're off your head mate if you think King will be here after the window.

Brooks the same .

Thanks for that. Charmed I'm sure. I wouldn't expect King to be here either, unless nobody makes a decent offer, was mainly referring to Danjuma and Brooks who I don't see leaving in this window and Rodrigo seems to be more that kind of player.

So we're bringing him as cover, not a replacement?

If we lose any one of the three (king, danjuma or brooks), then he is a replacement.

We will have a look at your theory at the end of the window

Do you actually read before writing ?
I clearly stated that he COULD be a replacement for Brooks later on, IF he does well for us and IF somebody is prepared to stump up the 50 million we are asking for Brooks ( which I believe will be in January at the earliest because Brooks' fitness record so far does not make him appealing at that price ).
Anyway, enjoy your opinion and I will continue to enjoy mine.

You clearly stated you thought we were bringing him as cover (your words).

Not as a replacement (your words)

He's on a loan.

Top logic there. Fab if we can keep all three and add one. That said I'm very surprised one of the 'big boys' hasn't come in for them - wouldn't surprise me if our near neighbours come knocking at some point.

Agree too - loads of possible permutations for the structure of the loan, who he would cover and/or replace, and what formation we play.

If we sold DB in Jan and if RR goes back at end of season and if we go up, only challenge is we need to look again next year, but nice problem to have. Lot of Ifs, but maybe we can contoct a deal whereby we have a buy back on JK if we go up too. Then all bases covered.

Just reminded me of the time we had it done to us, we were set to sign a player and on the way down he was hijacked at motorway services by another club who signed him, Forest springs to mind but not sure.

That one was really dirty, and regarding business etiquette nothing seemed long lasting or damaging there.

Wasn't there also the player from Norwich, Welsh international, who we 'had signed' but when elsewhere, Roberts, Thomas?

"woan loan moan"

That was it Ian Woan would have been a hell of a signing at the time.

Don't recall the Norwich incident dj

Well i'm down memory lane, who recalls the signing of the "Northern youth level human goal scoring machine" can remember the massive anticipation felt at the headlines took a while for the player to shine who went on to be a club legend minus the goal scoring machine ;)

Willy Huck our first dabble at continental players , known for that 1st appearance and explosive run towards the old south end on the left wing, never to be seen again for the rest of his playing days here. "We've got a diamond here, that soon turned to the realisation it was glass"

Go the Harry Redknapp book for my birthday - apparently one of Cloughie's mates was at Runcorn - that's how he found out about Woan.

Cloughie knew Harry had a good record from non league, so just bid £1 more than us! We basically did the scouting for him.
