Asmir Begovic

Funny how when he's playing well not many comments come on about Asmir.
Outstanding tonight and has been since he's come back.
I think it’s fair to say that he has turned the corner now and I’m glad both for him and us. On current form you will be hard pressed to find a better keeper in this division. Could prove to be a crucial element in our promotion challenge. Hats off to him for the turnaround :tophat:

It's actually weird.....I can't believe how much confidence I have in him now.....before the season started I had absolutely none..
...how has he gone from one of his last performances if not his last performance for us in the PL against Newcastle a couple of seasons ago where he was horrendous to looking like a 10m pound goal keeper?.....

And weirdly I had a feeling in my water that once he had replaced Travers he’d suddenly come good. That had absolutely no basis in fact, I saw no evidence to support it, it was just a feeling I had.

Credit where it’s due and a safe keeper will be a massive boost to our promotion prospects. Funny to think that Ramsdale would probably have done worse than Asmir has done so far. Selling Rambo is starting to look like decent business !

Some credit must go to JT as obviously he has been able to get Asmir onside.

Really can't see how JT has had much to do with it.

It's a couple games in and he's just had a spell at Madrid.

Perhaps the credit should goto Asmir himself.

I really think without fans, due to Covid that he can perform better without the crowd on his back.

That’s taken out of context.

It’s also absolute balls - not surprised Bondy could come out with such deluded nonsense. He used to make at least one rick per game, normally duff kicking straight to the feet of opposing strikers. The fans only started chanting for Mossy after watching the same nonsense repeating itself over a number of weeks.

Let's be straight, this league should be a doddle for him.

Yes, he's playing well (about time) and I hope he keeps it up.
The championship is one of the toughest leagues in the world, not my quote, many pundits say this.
With keepers, it's all about shots and dealing with everything that comes at you. I think Bego is firmly our number 1, hopefully for years to come.

I remember back in the day Darryl flahaven talking about a change in ball and how it moved so differently in the air.

Maybe begovic could be interviewed to explain this if this new ball is causing issues. Would help the way we view/judge him.

If it is causing problems, then we should shoot more!

People forget Begovic had a great spell for several months in the Premier League before making some howlers and completely losing his confidence. And let's face it, playing behind our defence at the time was bound to make the most confident keeper nervous

The defence had zero confidence in him not the other way around.

He had a save ratio of 56% that season and that’s forgetting the fact he ignored any cross that came into the box and failed to command his 6 yard box let alone his entire area.

Whatever the reason, Begovic was a complete liability towards the end of his PL appearances with us. I don't think there's any arguable case otherwise.

Equally, he's looked a different player this season.

He's on a crazily high wage for the Championship and it's no secret we were trying to move him on but that didn't work out. As it happens, so far that's been to our advantage.

If he keeps playing as he has then he could be in line for out player of the season. Very early days to make that call and a lot of chances for it to go awry but it's worth acknowledging that up to now his form has been excellent.
