Championship rival updates

I notice that Norwich’s ambition of attaining 100 points for the season now requires them to get ten points from three remaining fixtures. That will take some doing !
:p

On Sky tonight they said Watford effectively promoted as 9 points ahead of Swansea with better goal difference. Ignored fact that AFCB and Brentford have extra game to play and mathematically (though unlikely) could still overtake Watford

Norwich have 0 points this season against the other two relegated sides ...us and and Watford....that doesn't bode well for them for next season.
For the last two games you could make the excuse that they were already on the beach but the fact remains that both AFCB and Watford beat them at the first attempt. If we manage to sneak promotion I would fancy both Watford and ourselves to end up in front of them, ‘tis true !

Well there is no doubt that Norwich were the weakest of the three that came down.....the reason they have finished in front of us and Watford is that they haven't had to adjust as much as we have......we went up as a possession based team and evolved over 5 seasons in the PL as a counter attacking team....i think thats what the PL does to teams like us and Watford over a period of time......then of course you get relegated and have to adapt to being a team who has the majority of the possession again with players who were not bought for that purpose.....Jeff for example was much more effective for us in the PL than he has been in this league simply because he was bought with a specific role in mind.....which wasn't getting on the ball and dictating play.

Two draws and a defeat for Watford, with 4 x wins for us, will be enough (but unlikely I agree)

they lost 2 players to our 11, which takes far more adjustment

I’ve always maintained that. Norwich came into the PL as a Championship team, didn’t evolve and went straight back down. They started this season as a proven Championship team and ourselves and Watford had a lot of adjustment to make which gave them a head start.
If they don’t adapt to the PL next season, their cycle could repeat once again !

Need Watford to draw with millwall and then lose to Brentford and Swansea. Maybe not likely but possible - but so was drawing with sheff weds in that final game in 2015. The small flaw in the plan is us winning 4/4

Millwall away is not a great place for us. I hope you're right but I have a a bad feeling about that one more so than Brentford at home.
Yes know what you mean.

They don't lose many there - mainly 0-0 draws!

And always seem to go well against us.

I'd almost be as confident getting 3 points v Swansea as Millwall.

When it’s your team you can never relax of course but thing tonight nailed it. Think your 2014/15 looked a better team (like our side) but you have been consistent and clinical when mattered.

Mark - How would you compare this Watford team vs 2014/15 vintage.

Yes - certain had better strikers like Vydra, Ighalo and an in form Deeney.

Although the ability of Sarr probably counters that.

Midfield probably more creative with Abdi in it but bit like with Gosling we had some older experienced heads in Ben Watson.

Defence might be more solid now and more settled.

We certainly scored and let in more during that season I think.

We would need to upgrade the squad quite a bit to be very competitive next season.

This is weird but I always want to be in the same division as Watford, to hate like this organically is what football is all about. The New Forest derby feels very one sided because of Pompey

Whilst I don't advocate a gung ho approach to spending loads of money to stay in the pl, promotion must be a bit flat for Norwich fans, knowing the odds are extremely high of another straight relegation with their approach.

Makes sense from business, longevity point of view, must be slightly depressing knowing what's likely to happen to them next season, when achieving promotion should be something to celebrate (for most).

Was looking at the Hornets nest a couple of days ago - so funny the amount of posters convinced that we were going to overtake you.

Slightly paranoid :grinning:

I can imagine lots of dreaming about winning the title now?
