AFC Bournemouth v Brentford - 3 To Go!

I‘m intrigued by the swear filter/moderation today. Not a great problem but far more offensive words have been allowed through today that the ones moderated above?

It’s an automatic word filter, use a word that’s included it gets removed. Use a word not in the word filter it doesn’t get removed.

If there are any words you feel should be added feel free to inbox me.

...let’s keep our heads here bad day but the play offs are a different proposition and we will be in there pitching...and today’s game won’t mean that much apart from learning that we need to mark Toney a lot better and control the midfield better...Lerma had a poor game and he is one of the players we need to be on his mettle..thought Rico did okay as LB without much cover from Danjuma or midfield

Why does everyone get so prickly with warranted criticism. :grinning:

We just lost 1-0 to a team with 10 men for half the game. We had 4 shots to their 18. You can disagree if you want but in my opinion that is very embarrassing.
Not disagreeing that today was not a good show but you have to admit the dross that was being turned out in JT’s last month or so was worse.

More stuff:

Pearson and Surridge on after 75 mins ..what goods that..why not 60 mins. We needed to rustle the buggers...

Gosling started for Watford.

See the great Wilson banging them in for the Newcastle. .oh f√ck sorry..its Will'ock !

Seems the players and JW ..took their feet off the gas today....

Good to give some of the bench some playing time. Would actually like to see Travers get a game - you need to be ready for anything in the playoffs. We now have a three game pre-season to get ready for the important stuff.

I’m not one for omens but after Al’s Lincoln reminder and that really weird stat that Brentford had a man sent off in their last 4 wins at our place, I quite like this: last season Brentford did the double over a Fulham side relegated from the Premier League before losing to them in the play-off final (the ninth time out of nine that Brentford have failed to win the play-offs).

I heard a comment about another sport this week that I think applies to us from time to time - that being that fans sometimes misinterpret lack of effort, as it might be more a case of lack of familiarity with the play/among the players. In elite sports, a split second can turn a play from something special to something ordinary or worse.

So, with four changes in the XI, could some of that be the case today? Certainly it would provide an argument for some of the poor showings earlier in the year, as the XI was constantly changing.

Good news for us is that it is pretty clear which XI should be starting come playoffs.

Think the commentator on Sky said this was the third time we had lost at home to Brentford when they had 10 men.

Found these other two times.

April 2009, 0-1

Oct 2001 0-2

Thinking back to the opening spell in the first half where Junior Stanislas was through on goal but lost his footing and chance went begging, did our watering of the pitch work against us?

Seen our players slip before, I wonder at times if they overdo the watering, as seen the sprinklers on even when it is/has been raining.

Perhaps. Also Stan is rusty I think. The in-form Stanislas of say December time puts us 1 or maybe even 2 goals up yesterday.

I think he said it had happened the three previous times. However it doesnt tell the full story - a sending off may have happened in the last few minutes of one of those games for example and meant nothing or in the first 5 minutes of a game when it would have been more of a story

April 2009, Darren Powell was sent off in the 49th minute.

October 2001, Stephen Hunt was sent off in the 78th minute.

Yesterdays second half was as bad as any half of football we've played all season........absolutely clueless garbage......I couldn't see us winning 13 games in a row anyway though tbf so perhaps it's better we threw that type of performance in now to avoid any complacency in the remaining games.....time to reset and go again.

Darren Powell was also booked in the 2001 game, lucky to stay on the pitch.
In 2006 Sam Sodje was sent off in a 2-2 draw, Adam Griffiths had been sent off 6 mins earlier. Lee Probart was the ref.
