Simon Francis

...so when Eddie Howe eventually decides to get off his rear and take a management position Franno will take over from the departing Hughes?
My thoughts too. Although someone on here said that Hughes was a mate of Parker, so maybe not?

I must admit that I immediately thought the same. Nice succession planning by the board, just in case !

Really strengthens the 'Head Coach' role and appears Hughes and Francis are identifying the players not Parker.

I hope SP has some say in this but back my belief this type of structure is what made EH leave

I think this is bloody great. Franno has always come across as intelligent and measured in his approach and I felt he was destined for some kind of future in the game beyond his playing days. Great to have him around and shows at least Parker is welcome to working with a club intent in retaining some of its identity.

Absolutely this.

Train up Francis, and by the time Eddie has a job, Rich can leave and we'll not suffer with the lack of continuity in that department. Franno just needs to learn a few other languages in the meantime!

It's interesting that the article in The Athletic mentioned that one of the reasons Parker moved on from Fulham was that he wanted to build a legacy rather than relying on so many loanees.

Hopefully the strengthening of the recruitment team is a sign of this approach.

Will that include a training ground and stadium I wonder ? ;)

Franno must have played with Parker at Charlton.

Someone I know who met a few times said he's 'down to earth' and decent bloke who made them feel welcome. No massive ego or arrogance like some footballers.
