Sam Surridge

Stanislas berating young players for poor decision making is not the sort of on field coaching that helps the team.
Surridge might believe he will get more playing time at stoke and fit in with their hard work style of play.
It happens all the time in games. It seems alright for a captain to give out a bollocking in a game as it is seen a leadership .
The Stan and surridge thing was nothing at all. Stan berated surridge . Who’s cares happens all the time

Stoke fans not very impressed.....and who can blame them...the last two forwards they had with Bournemouth connections, were Afobe and Volkes...:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Sam Vokes didn't really settle anywhere after leaving us. Out on loan with six clubs while he was at Wolves, at Burnley he was mostly second or third fiddle to Austin and Ings. Used mostly as an impact sub at Stoke, Vokes is now at Wycombe. Never being the most mobile striker, maybe Vokes has been signed as the stand-in double for Adebayo Akinfenwa.

Us getting our money back for Afobe in that deal that saw Wolves make a crafty two million pound profit in the four days that Afobe was at Molineux, was crazy. Many thanks, Stoke City.

I couldn't care less if he 'forced a move' or not. If he doesn't want to be here then he can go and I won't criticise him for it. It's his career and if you could be bothered to look back through my comments when people leave I hardly ever criticise them for wanting to move on.

I don't know how many times I can clarify, I'm criticising the people on here who were slagging Stan off for his disloyalty and bad attitude ... For considering his options when he's the wrong side of 30 and being involved in an on-field spat that they were both 50% to blame for. I've no issue with Surridge.
Yeah ok.

Funny 'ol 'game'...covers all this...

..ere listen up....you wants ' business' Football...its here!

When you think ' oh Christ'. millions of silly buggers across Britain hang on every dulcet Lancashire tone that drops off the lips of the Manu Duty Bank- Clerk...and occasional football coach...Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.. there we have what Football has become...and Ole, decent bloke i'd guess, was a decent player...he squeezed in a few appearances for the ' Canal Scum version of the Itchen- siders....and won them a big cup...
...many of his appearances were as sub....a bit like Surridge albeit on a bigger planet !

But y'know it just ' business' now so we have to ride with that...sadly.

It's funny how people have reacted to Surridge basically forcing a move. Anyone else gets the proverbial horses head in their bed for showing a lack of loyalty. He could have forced his way ahead of Solanke if he wanted to but he didn't.

It's also funny how Stanislas, someone who's actually performed at the highest level for the club, and I would say has been our most effective player in several periods, was blamed for his bad attitude when they had a scrap on the pitch.

Nothing whatsoever on here about Surridge's attitude or loyalty.

I completely agree that the criticism of Stan taking time to decide his future was unwarranted. It's what any professional in any business would do. Personally I'm delighted that after considering his options he's decided to stay. He's a quality player and think he'll have a big role next season.

As for Surridge, I'm no huge fan, but also haven't seen anything to suggest he's behaved poorly in all this (so far). I think £5.5m (or whatever it is) is too good an offer for the club to turn down, and it appears it suits the player too. If the move doesn't go through, and Surridge sulks / plays up then, yes, he could and should be criticised. But for now, I just wish him the best, even if just for the reputation of our academy.

Is 5.5 million enough to erect another tier above one of stands ?...or fill in some gaps for seats in the corners...just kinda wonderin' like....
Then there is that sheep facility thingy over Canford way......maybe some pens and a sheep dip....a couple of shearing devices ..get some wool for new shirts...think like a bit of post- covid 'economy' !

5.5 million...such scope ..them buckets can wait a bit longer in their hibernation state !

I thought you'd rather they spent the money on a player or two

After all, nothing else matters except putting the round leather thing in the opponents' string bag, does it?

Yep..that's the ultimate aim..the net!..as I've monotonously banged on about...but even I, in my blessed stupid moments...realise that there is the off - field dealings to be considered...I.e. we have to buy in something to balance our failures in the much vaunted 'development squad ' scene....know whut ah mean bruv!
And hey ..wouldn't it be nice to have some more seats for you locals to watch from .when things progress..even just bring it up to say 15,000 !

To me Sam Surridge was a 'nearly man', never quite the finished article. He tried hard and sometimes produced the goods. Stoke obviously can see something in him that I can't. Good luck to the bloke but is he a bit too 'nice' for Stoke's way of playing?

Regarding the Stan vs Sam comparison isn't the major component that ties into the fan sentiment the sense of getting value from the move?

We're comparing someone who wound down a contract and fished for a better offer before signing with someone who may have put pressure on the club to accept a frankly very good offer. I can understand the former generating negative fan sentiment and the later to generate positive fan sentiment even if I don't feel it myself.

If King had a strop over a £50m offer that we ultimately accepted he would be thought of fondly. If Ake had downed tools until we accept a dersary offer or paid him until he left on a free he would be as popular as the wee turd.

Lol we can't fill the stadium we have now.

Footballers on the move or staying put...Surridge to Stoke...Stanislas at Boscombe....in their squads..Harry Kane at Spurs...or Real Madrid or Rochdale....all with one thing in common....getting on a pitch and doing their stuff....fans to gather and pick holes or praise....just a game....fun.... I'll get my :bull: !

I've got no-issue with the way Surridge has dealt with himself and the club. I haven't heard him fall out with the club, demand a transfer, suggest he's too good for this team or flatly refuse to play. I actually feel for the guy. He's been sat on the bench given half a sniff at proving himself while Solanke, with the big price tag, has lolloped around ahead of him. I'd be p1ssesd off too. Now, I ain't knocking Solanke workrate but he ain't a striker or natural out and out goalscorer. He'll scuff in a goal here and there but to be honest I wouldn't give a f@ck if our man up top was the laziest f@cker about but banged goals in when the chance came along. Add to that we don't know how his head is after the spat with Stanislas and maybe then he decided if Stan stays , he goes.
