The Newcastle Takeover

Can recall us trying to get him on loan at one point, but apparently he wasn't interested as wanted champ football May have been back in our league 1 promotion year... in Jan window.
Thought we’re in champ and he was in prem so didn’t want to drop down?

IMHO its really weird seeing wood doing his new club photo shoot and hold up a New Zealand scarf above his head rather than a club scarf!?

Be interesting to know what all these targeted overseas players think of playing for Eddie. Interesting that Digne signed for villa quoting how he wanted to play for Gerrard but don’t think Eddie will have the same appeal.

If Newcastle fail to beat watford on Saturday and Leeds next week then imho signing decent players will become very difficult.

Newcastle v Watford then Newcastle v Leeds how the hell am I supposed to know who to hope wins. I'm guessing Covid will win to provide Newcastle enough time to buy a couple of £50m players.

Life just isn't fair.

Newcastle message boards are like reading this one towards the end of Eddie when we went down; but on steroids.

"When we scored it just stunk of life under previous managers. It was almost like we were content to protect our lead and see the game out. Watford created chance after chance and around the 80 minute mark I told one of my mates that these are definitely going to score. Our **************** defence can't sit back and let a side create chances because one of them will go in. We were playing Watford and for a while after we scored they looked rattled, we should have grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and scored a second. I've defended Howe and his team in recent weeks but today they've had a shocker."

The case against keeping Howe:

- Results somehow as bad/worse than Bruce
- Already relegated with a whimper once
- Looks frit
- Keeps picking Lascelles, Fraser and Shelvey
- Can’t change a game, even one he’s winning
- He’s encouraging **************** deals for players who aren’t good enough
- No evidence whatsoever that he has what it takes to get us promoted

The lad is a YouTube merchant, **************** him off before it’s too late. Fucking hell it’s just history repeating itself here with us and relegation.

Didn't think he was the right man for many, many reasons when we messed up getting Emery and settled for him. Was happy to give him support and hope he would prove me wrong, but it's actually been worse than even I thought it would.

We look like 11 strangers still, playing with no discernible midfield, no real signs of any attacking patterns of play, and his answer is Chris Wood as he's "what the team needs now".

"At any other club there would be serious discussions about his future, no matter how long he's been in charge. I'm just venting my anger today, but my gut has always told me he was the wrong fit for a club of our size and potential, in our position.

Miraculously though, somehow we are not dead and buried already. Time to get the Saudi millions out, and time to be careful who chooses where those millions get spent.
"

Sounds like they had most of the 1st then scored and sat back allowing us in the game to get a point .

Newcastle will be hoping we also draw to Burnley and Norwich next week .

given the paucity a lot talent maybe a more defensive style under Benitez would give more chance of Newcastle staying up then Eddie’s more attractive, expansive style? Having said that, I think Benitez is on the downhill slope

See update above and comments.

I feared for him when he put his band back together. I really hoped that time away would have helped him discover assistants and coaches that were more in tune with the modern game at elite level and not schooled by Sean O’Driscoll against Torquay.

It eventually cost him here and it may cost him there. His talent is not enough and loyalty can only go so far.
