Mark Travers

Fully deserved - he has been consistently excellent and for a ‘rookie’ not shown any sign of nerves affecting his game. I don’t think I can remember a single meaningful mistake or a thought that he could have done better with a shot. Dom has done ‘the biz’ at one end of the pitch but Travs has done equally as well at the other. Strikers get lots of praise match to match but keepers seldom do. It’s only right that the balance is redressed a little at the end of the season.

Replace Travers with another half decent keeper and the season looks pretty much the same. Replace Dom with a half decent striker and we're mid table. It's a robbery tbh.
by a 'half -decent' keeper I presume you mean a goalkeeper that made a number of outstanding saves at vital moments in matches leading to victories we would not otherwise have had?
(btw I would vote for Dom too, but Travers has been brilliant)

Yes, like Begovic did last year and Ramsdale did the other year. It's the best season I've ever seen a striker have in my time watching the club vs a great goalkeeper season, but one that possibly isn't even the best in the last five years.

tbh, if there was ever a season where there was joint mvp's, this was it. Lose either Dom or Travers and we are probably down so many points that we are scratching at a playoff spot. I really couldn't choose between them.

A reminder of some of his big saves earlier in the season. Looking forward to seeing an end of season montage

shut up Englishman. Mark clearly top, with Kilkenny a close second and Brady a distant third. I’d give Solanke a mention in 4th place.

He's definitely had a cracking season and I can't wait to see him in the PL next year.... but not picking a 30 goal striker as POTS will be seen in years to come as a strange decision.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is a good film but it should never have beaten Jaws as Best Picture.

Sorry SDD, I normally agree with most things you post ( I know that's not what you like to hear: ) ) but IMHO ( is that social medialy correct? ) that's B.S., Jaws is nowhere near as good as One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest : )

Apologies for going off topic people because Travers is an exceptional keeper, all round nice guy and for a rookie keeper has had a fantastic season. Just about edges it from Dom Dom Di Dom and Randle P. McMurphy : )

Unacceptable. ;)

As you say, without wanting to derail the thread, I thought the Jaws comparison was valid because OFOTCN was an exceptional film yet Jaws arguably transcended the era and entered all-time great territory.

I'm in no way doing Travs down, I think he had a better season than Begovic did last year, which is saying something, and I certainly wouldn't fight anyone who rated him as better than Rambo....

....but Dom got 30 goals! Best total I've ever seen and it's not like his all-round game, workrate, attitude, etc. wasn't brilliant too. It's credit to Travers that he is in the conversation (Lewis Cook would be too if not for the injury/slow start) but Dom should have clinched it in my view.

In my shallow opinion, Travers wins because he gave us his shirt last week and Ken Kesey was a "friend " of the Grateful Dead back in the early days. Also, I feel Spielberg's career has gone downhill since he directed the original Columbo pilot film : )
( Bit like Orson Welles and Citizen Kane ) : )

It's a fair point. Plus, when Jaws turned up in James Bond a couple of years later he looked completely different. No continuity.

Travers saved us a number of times doing his job at the back.

Solanke scored the goals up front.

Both players for me equal for the award.

In the club one I voted for Solanke, when we think back after we signed him from Liverpool for a big fee, he had that hanging around this neck when he wasn’t getting the goals.

Took a lot of stick from some of our fans as well.

So after last season scoring 15 goals and this season after tomorrow could double that amount in the league, for me he got my vote over Travers,.
